Hey NutZ,

I'm thinking about doing a rebarrel of a Stevens 200...it's currently in 243 cal.

We have a decent caliber stable already, ...we have Browning A-Bolts in 300WSM, 7MM RM, 270 Win, 243, and 308, got me a 6.5x55 Tikka, 223 T3 Varmint...but being THAT Nut-Zee kinda guy...lol, I'm thinking I'm looking for something with a little more oomph than the standard cals. ~~~~I know, I know, I could just sell it and forget it...but them little grey matter cogs just never ever seem to stop turning !:runaway:

What different calibers would be an easy swap for the blind mag, straight feed S/A Savage 200 ??

Stuff that's crossing my mind are...6.5 CM...6.5x ??, 243 AI...708 AI (if there is one)...anything else odd ball you guys are hunting / plinking away with ? What about far out S/A wildcats ??

I reload for everything I own, so I don't forsee ammo being a problem. Just wondering what little gems you guys may have been shooting and loving them, and kinda keeping them to your selves

.358 win mag...... no alterations required to the boltface or mag...... headspace a barrel and good to go.... unless of course the barrel profile of the stock won't allow for it
 
Nomad, I considered the 260 when I got my new Tikka Forest, but my love of the old 6.5x55 won out...actually wasn't much of a debate with myself...lol

Superbrad...now you got me thinking about the bigger than "30 cal" stuff....didn't think I'd ever want for anything once I got my 300WSM...not sure I do, but I still like all the suggestions.


Guntech....I tried that selling thing to feed the others....after the deed is done, all I seem to keep doing is finding another "metallic orphan" to feed !!! :runaway:
 
Personally wouldn't sink a dime into a Stevens... might as well roll 4 or 5 cigar's in hundred dollar bills.

Just saying, you would be further ahead selling the Stevens and buying a better quality rifle factory chambered in the cartridge of your choice... you will get your money back out of it... a rebarrelled Stevens will net a considerable loss.
 
338 Federal...now there's another intriguing hammer round....coming up with more options than I first thought.
Is the 243AI that much better over the 243Win....kinda like the 270Win vs the 270WSM ??

I've been kicking around this stuff for the past month or two...trying to decide what I really wanted. My fav caliber bullet is the 6.5 !

OOdles of options for that caliber for bullet weights...more and more calibers and wildcats coming along. The most intriguing one for me is the extreme. Thankx for all your suggestions fellas...I won't say, I'm never gonna have a 35 cal hammer, not yet anyways.....Cheers Kevin
