Good day all,

I just picked up a bottle of IMR 4227 for loading 357's. I heard it was a good powder for the purpose but the problem is I can't find any load data at all for 125gr plated bullets. The only data I could find were for 140. Anyone know of any recipes they'd like to share or even point me in the direction of some available trustworthy load data online?

Thanks a lot,
Trevor

For Hornady 125 gr Jacketed Hollow point in Rifle 20.0C of IMR 4227 yields 1935 fps in 18" barrel
For Hornady 125 gr Jacketed Hollow point in Pistol 18.5C of IMR 4227 yields 1325 fps in 6" barrel

This is right out of an IMR powder manual. Plated bullets? depends on the plating I guess. What does the bullet manufacturer say?

The bullet manufacturer is Campro, they're 125gr FCP TC bullets, on their website I also do not see any data for IMR4227. I will see if I can find the IR powder manual online.

Thanks

4- Are the standard FMJ loads appropriate for CamPro projectiles?

Yes. Standard FMJ loads are appropriate for CamPro projectiles because the 8 mils copper plated coating behaves like the conventional copper jacket.

Thank you very much for you help!

I just made some of these up today with CamPro 158 gr. FCP TC's. I followed an old Lyman manual and used 14.8 gr. The manual said 15 gr max. One thing to note is that you should use Magnum primers or Small Rifle primers for the IMR4227 to ignigte properly. I had a standard primer loaded into one to see how it would go and it didn't have near as much pop. I didn't get the chance Chrony the difference but it was a notable difference in recoil.
