Why do I all of sudden want a glock???

Recipe to love a Glock...
Buy a Glock 19 Gen 4, install a 106mm Lonewolf non treaded barrel...
Change to a 3.5 pounds connector and spring...
This configuration have completly change my mind on Glocks, this is now one of my favorite for accuracy and handling...
This one is very close to my 1911 in angle grip... JP.

Thanks for all the input guys I think the reliability and simple operations is the most attractive feature and certainly what would close the deal here. If it runs rain or shine and I can rely on it then it's good enough for me to train with. I should have mentioned I'm looking for a 9mm and it'd be primarily used outside of competition.

I have a Glock 17, and a CZSP01 Shadowline and while the trigger is so much better on the CZ, I enjoy my Glock as well. I don't find it snappy to shoot, I have lightened the trigger and polished it so it's fine, and I put in a match barrel. Don't think it needed the match barrel but it looks cool. It is a laser beam with a red dot by the way.

I got that weird itch late last year and a few weeks after it started SFRC had a sale on a few Gen3 models: I managed the last model 21 and glad I satisfied that itch. Butt ugly, feels like a block of wood but I like how it shoots and it has managed to find it's way into my heart. On account of the grip being so near center of the bore, recoil is minimal and recovery is quick. (maybe I'm just big and those weight/design differences comparing the 21 to my 1911... recoil/muzzle flip differences measurable with an accurate gauge) I have big hands so the grip with a doublestack of 45acp is fine I just don't like the flat sides of it: The appearance of the slide has grown on me. Mine is still in stock form, but it is accurate by any service pistol standard and trigger pull easily adapted to. The trigger safety is about as much an issue with function as a grip safety is on a 1911: You have to pull it to pull the trigger, as you have to hold the grip to effectively shoot it... a non-issue.

About the only issue I have still is one of the magazines does not consistently drop from the mag well: It seems they bulge a bit when stuffed to capacity. They have been sitting with their springs compressed for a couple weeks now, and with wear on the mag sides, is improving.

You'll enjoy joining the dark side... ;)

I got the itch a couple of months ago and scratched it as well!

Until now, it had been 1911's and CZ's. I tried a CZ P-09, but it felt "top heavy" to me. I recently sold my Shadow and was looking for something different that I could customize as I do my AR. I now own a G17 Gen4 and really enjoy it. I don't find it snappy, not even compared to my STI Spartan in 9mm (or the Shadow). With the large beavertail backstrap installed I can get my grip up really high, which definitely helps with the recoil.

I am having a blast tweaking the trigger pull (Apex trigger and Ghost "-" connector installed, Apex safety plunger is next), but I know the price of my "bargain" G17 is going up every time I do so. It will be a project that is never complete, but that's the fun part! :)

i picked up a 17C years ago for a song.
while i prefer pretty much every other gun for comfort that damn glock is bullet proof!
i just keep coming back to it and using and abusing it.
damn things just keeps ticking along.

treated myself to a G19 here in December.
prefer that one a LOT over the 17 for fit in my hand.
still feels like a brick compared to M&P's.

than i got a bug to try out some 10mm.
picked up a G40 Gen4 MOS.

Glock. The gun you wanna hate but cant.
great now i wanna go shoot my glocks...... *sigh*

I've heard lots of argument over the looks, "cheapness" and reliability of Glock pistols.

For me, ergonomics are great and bore axis is lower than many "plastic" pistols. You can really get your hand under the grip.

Trigger is good and can be made better. Never had a FTF or FTE. Overall a great gun.

BTW, I got a gen 4 Glock 22.

Ah yes the old 'Brick Envy' eh? I must confess that I too used to think they were the most hideous things created. I swore up and down that there was NO way I would ever succumb to whatever twisted lack of sense it took to shell out big money for such a stupid looking bulky POS! That is, until 2 years ago when I simply HAD to get one! I can't explain it. Something about the simplicity and reliability just won me over. Hell, I can't even say that accuracy is its redeeming quality because, to my added shame of making the purchase..........I HAVE YET TO SHOOT IT!!! That's right. Every couple weeks I pull it out of the safe and gaze upon its sheer ugliness and muse with stifled glee at its hideous awesomeness. How such a blocky, square hunk of plastic and steel can elicit such joy without even fulfilling its purpose of creation is beyond me, but at least I can say......I HAVE ONE! (nyah nyah!)

Hated the G22 I had. Lasted a whole 2 months and sold it. I think it had more to do with me and 40S&W not liking each other.

Really tempted to give a 17 a go, just to see.

This forum sure has a way of burrowing ideas deep into your psyche...
The G19 does look like it would compliment my smaller hands...
Adding a ported barrel would make it half ###y...

Now would a Bushnell first strike be able to take the abuse of the slide???

Glock is still on my wishlist. Have a few 1911s, a PPQ, a 226, an 92FS and a revolver and never really prioritized getting a Glock, but still definitely something I want to own and try out.

One of these days....

I went through the same thing. I hated Glocks with a passion growing up and when I first started getting into guns. My first pistols, bought at the same time, were a CZ-SP01 Tactical and a SA 1911. I eventually sold the 1911, bought and sold a CZ Phantom, and M&P9. Then I fell for the Glock 17 RTF2s...hard. They've been my favourite pistols for the last 10 years now. Got to shoot a friends Shadow 2 the other day, it was great, but my G17 is still my favourite and if I could have only one, that would be it.

Exactly this.

My first gun was a Sig P226. Hated the Glock and wouldn't even look at it. Then I tried a Gen 3 RTF2 and was hooked. Now have two RTF2s and no longer have the P226.

I've been toying with upgrades and my main G17 now has a ZEV trigger kit (along with skeletonized striker), Dawson Precision sights, and a ZEV slim magwell. Love that gun and it will be the last on I let go.

Comfortable coming out of the closet? I've seen people the same way when they bought a BMW motorcycle or a Chevy truck. Don't worry; your parents will still love you.

I bought one out of spite. My friend wanted one but he lolly gaged on sending his license in. Ohhh for about 8-9 years. (Yes he took the course but never sent in the paper work) and actually my brother bought him an sks for doing work around his house but is holding it till he gets his license. Anywho bought it out of spite. Then sold it. But recently bought another one because I actually missed it. And my wife liked shooting it. And just for good times here's this

I have nothing against a guy who likes Glock. Likes playing with Glock. Taking Glock, using Glock, or giving it to Glock. It's a matter of choice. I'm guessing it's a preference.

Doesn't everyone have a Glock.? Kidding but seriously can't call it a collection until there's at least one....why not try a g17 it is the benchmark, no? I love my Beretta, Sig and Cz but see the Glock as an equally important part of the collection for "wonder nines" at least ones still in current production.

G19 is very size efficient vs. other plastic guns and it has a very low bore axis.
I still find HK and Walther to have a wee bit more inherent accuracy vs. Glock.
