I just recently converted my Remington 700 adl in 223 to the bdl configuration and ive having problems with the gun not feeding properly.

With 5 rounds in the mag the first 3 rounds feed and chamber without issue. However the second last round jams when trying to chamber. Once the round is cleared the last round in the mag feeds and chambers without issue.

Anyone know what might be going on here?

I used the mag spring and follower from my adl during the conversion. Might they need to be replaced with bdl ones?

Thanks in advance!

When the action screws are tight, open the floor plate and reach in with your finger... can you move the magazine box easily or is it jammed tight? It should move freely.

I believe the adl and bdl use the same follower and spring... just a different box.

I cannot move it around.

I used my ADL mag box.
I read on another forum that i could just trim the mag box so it would fit with the hinged floor plate. So that's what I did.

Hopefully you trimmed the bottom... do some more trimming... I would probably not use the screw...

Make sure your spring is all the way to the front of your follower as well. How does it jam is the nose of the bullet hitting the ramp or is the round jumping out of the mag?

round is jumping out of the mag

Make sure the top of the box is spread as far apart as possible so the bottom of the action is holding it firmly. The shells under the action need to be farther apart on the follower so they don't stack and pop out the top... You may need a new follower.

I am not aware of an aftermarket one. For some reason I think the 222/223 rounds can be the hardest to get reliable feeding in a 700... I don't know why.
