I think prices have gone up to around the $400 level for the Chinese rifles. I recall CanAm saying something about this in the past. Might be a tough to move at that price.
Yea, I heard around $350 for CTC, but if enough come in country that may go down a bit!I think prices have gone up to around the $400 level for the Chinese rifles. I recall CanAm saying something about this in the past. Might be a tough to move at that price.
Not sure about any bubble, most I ever paid for an SKS was $210, once, my average cost per SKS is right around $170. Bought 3 in the last 3 weeks, 2@$156 and 1 @ $175., SKS are worth what you will pay, but when you sell you have to know, others may not see the value that you did!
Could you please point me to where I can get one around the $156 price point? I'm interested. Thanks!
Yeah and there's only 150 million more to be sold. Totally explains the price increases.
It was in NL, St. John's a sale, I got the last 2,, if he would have had 10 left I would have bought them all! but you have to keep an eye out for deals, also if you buy more than one, say 3 or 4 if you ask, they may cut you a deal! Good luck!
I have never bought an SKS privately or on the EE, they seem to want too much for them, just watch for deals from our sponsors here or your LGS and CTC! I have noticed that the farther east you come, the cheaper the SKS ,,, but,, the ammo gets more expensive, not sure why! My local CTC has a regular price of $199. For the basic SKS with birch stock, refurbs for the most part! I usually wait till a sale comes up or offer to buy multiple rifles for a discount, all they can say is no oorrr yes! Thanks, are good deals at dealer/retailer sales? Or private? Or gun show?
If dealer/retailer, any pointers to which ones have a track record of low prices like $150~$170 like the ones you found?
If private, not sure how one can keep an eye open, its not like I have connection to some kind of local milsurp social club.....
Well, I have just bought what is likely my last batch of SKS, made a deal for 4 all blued sks, 1, non refurb 1951 in very nice shape so lightly used, 1, non refurb 1951, a little big heavier used but still good shape, 1, 1952 lightly refurbed, pretty noce shape too, and last 1, 1954, lightly refurbed also nice! The really nice non refurb was $180. And the other 3 were $175 each, plus 4 bottles of home made wine!!! I picked through about 40 rifles to get these, I wanted 5 but couldn't find another that I could justify the cash! I will strip them this week and oil for storage, some I will keep and along with others I have some will be sold/traded to make the collection more complete. I am still hearing that the SKS coming in later this year ( June?) will cost more and the quality will be similar! So locally that will mean the standard birch stock SKS will be around $250 as they are on for $199. Or more most places.
Unless it is an awesome friggin SKS I am pretty much done buying for now! Eee###cept a nos 59/66 and 1 non refurb Chinese just to say I have one!
Yes, if they are priced fairly they go fast, I guess if everyone waits another 6 months, they may get another $50. For them if the prices go up like folks/retailers are saying!hmmm... most decently priced unmolested SKS's are selling fast on EE.
