We went out for the Weekend up into the State Forests, chasing Deer
long story short, my mate shot some nice Deers for meat and I in an unusual circumstance was able to Run over a Wild Dog which was on the track about 200m before camp one evening when returning from a hunt... 3rd gear in a Hilux sorted him out

Spank, What we do is Scalp them from Nose to Tail, one piece and claim $120 per Dog. Thank ya very much I says!

The Rug will be out of the Fallow LOL..... we skun it there back at camp and had the skin off n in a car fridge, where today it would of travelled 5-6 hours home an is hopefully Salted in a Freezer right now... a DIY Tanning kit will be put to use
cheers mate

So you get $120 bounty on them? Nice!! That fallow will make a neat looking rug but the wild dog would be a unique rug what with the 255/75 tread pattern embedded in it?! ;)

Salted is good. Frozen is good. Salted and frozen ain't so good, because it neither dries nor freezes. I'd get it to where it needs to be pronto.

I'm going to South Australia in July for some deer culling. Mostly fallows is the plan.

Great report WhelanLad, thanks for the report and pictures.
Gotta like it when your plan to take out a Dingo comes together.
This morning a skunk was around on the drive to work.
Someone already scalped it and I almost gutted it, good thing the scent was strong and the tea was on the console ;)
Tight Groups and Warm tenderloins ;) preferable the loins medium rare with a Castlemans ###X too

Are those gaiters you have on for snake defense? Just wondering.

Yeah mate absolutely, they are Canvas backed so quite thick to avoid the fangs of a Snake, but to be truthful from what I have been told and hope not to ever find out is that the Snake will actually strike you around or above the Knee.... so I'm rooted anyway!

"Dry as a dead dingo's donger" :)
Ha Ha You bloody Betcha cobber!!

10-4 on that $120 bounty for Dog and $10 for Fox LOL..... I tanned that Gold more pure dingo but this is a Cross Bred Wild Dog.. aka Mongrel!

Me lawrd laddie, yer styl'in.
Gaters, shorts, and lulewz's..................
hahaha Lookasaurus I was following until the Lulewzs .... whats that in Lookanese?

Yeah its all good, but interesting you say that, In Australia it is not uncommon for every Deer cape to have been Salted and Frozen, prior to Taxidermist, which can be Typically Australian, several months time.. LOL

Thanks for the photos...Oz is on my bucket list, so it's always nice to see stuff like this. :)

The spotted deer is a Sika, a Fallow, or...? Whichever, it is certainly beautiful. Can that be tanned into a soft, supple hair-on pelt? Our Whitetails have a brittle sort of hair that doesn't stand up well to much folding or manipulating.

Yours looks like it could be made into the Ozzie equivalent of an African Zebra rug...spectacular trophy! :)
