PM II on a Tikka T3x CTR - is this a crazy idea?

Looking for input from the audience on whether a Schmidt & Bender PMII sitting on a Tikka CTR is the height of lunacy on my part. I'm looking at 5—25x56 or 3—20x50 versions of the PMII.

My area of concern is height over bore and being able to get a decent cheek weld, as I know these scopes are typically found on chassis based systems.

Welcome your thoughts / input.
 
There's nothing wrong with overkill lunacy, this is Gun Nutz afterall...and no doubt the S&B is optically excellent. My biggest reservation would be the weight penalty, especially if your Tikka hunts.
 
Luv to put a S&B PMII 5-25 on my CTR. Nice upgrade from current S2 6-24. My CTR can do .4" 5 shot groups at 100m when I do my part. Only question is weight.
 
Go for it. You'll have an excellent scope that can stay atop the CTR or move forward onto another rifle if you decide to upgrade down the road.

You complain about "customs" in one thread and then say IOR is good? Have you heard of the Internet?

To the OP, slap an S&B on there - you can always upgrade the gun, the glass not so much.
 
Hell, i have S&B on a couple of 1K AR, top optics are underrated, top shelf scopes do make you a better shooter... JP.:)

I didn't say anything about a terminator or crusader being funny. What I said was funny is that you claim that next to IOR, S&B is the best on the market. And yes that is funny.

If you haven't at least used the Internet to inform yourself, go out and get behind them both and see for yourself. Go to any match that requires magnified optics and see how may IORs are sitting in the gun racks or on the firing line. At most matches, you won't find a single one.

I can't believe I'm having this debate...that's funny too.
 
If you are going to conduct a test of optical qualities between the S&B and IOR I suggest doing it straight out of the box before mounting on a rifle and shooting with them.
The IOR may not last long enough to conclude which has better glass.

Just reading up on the IOR Tactical 5.8-40x56/IL FFP, CRUSADER. Seems like IOR did well except for reliability. Is the IOR that unreliable?
