So I acquired a Browning HI Power mrk iii 9mm.
Beautiful pistol BUT I find it to be small.

Someone has offered me a Beretta px4 storm 9mm for trade.

Value wise I believe I'd take the hit.

What are your thoughts?

I can't imagine you'd find there is a big diffference. The PX4 isn't all that big either.

If you have hands that are so large that you feel the Hi Power is small feeling try a Beretta 92fs on for size. It's one of the more bulky grip size guns out there.

Barring that if you do like the feel of the PX4 then gun plus a bit of cash for your HP would seem to be a more proper deal than a straight across.

There seems to be a good difference in value.
The CZ shadows seem to get a lot of good rep talk.
I sold my CZ 75 pre B.
That new CZ shadow 2 looks sharp. Or the orange

If the cz75 was a good fit...they are all similar grips....as stated..the beretta has a good size grip...Hk usp and tactical series too...

I had the PX4 and sold it. I hated it. It fit my wife better than me. I have big gorilla hands, so that might have been the reason.

Cannon

Actually the HI Power was smaller.
I had them side by side.
Very noticeable.

Heard hk usp are also nice

Forgive me the confusion....I meant that all the Cz range were similarly gripped...with the exception of my 97...that was a little bigger...and awesome....

The bhp is beautiful well built.
I haven't even shot it. But it feels so small and I can see getting bitten by that hammer as it comes back.
Value wise I dunno what to trade it for.
I see them time to time on EE highly priced though.

Yep..that spur hammer can get you if you have a high hold...same can be said of the pre-b 75...only took me fifty rounds to get quite sore....lol

Hi Power is a classic gun from another era. They are excellent guns but the grip is quite small for a double stack.

I am not a fan of the Beretta PX 4. I think you have a much better gun in the Browning. I think Hogue made rubber grips with finger grooves on the front which would add a little girth to the grip.

Pachmyar grips on the Mk.III have a "swell" in the middle. I have long fingers and they work well. The short tang can cause hammer bite though if you're not careful.
The only thing I don't like about the Mk.III is the awful gritty and heavy trigger. Removing the mag disconnect can help, along with a trigger job. Otherwise, I think it has more character than the PX4. The Mk.III, evolved from the P35 which, along with the 1911s, the Makarov and 92S are guns with history. I would keep it over the Storm.

agreed, the hi power is a far better pistol than the px4.
i would put on a set of hogues or pachmyar grips & see if that fills your hand better.
easy & cheap solution before committing to a trade.

I advise you to shoot a PX4 enough to see how you like it before you give up a HiPower for it.

Now I'll also advise you to shoot the HiPower enough to see if you dislike it before you give it up for a PX4.

I've been trying to sell my HiPower for some time but I can't persuade myself to advertise it.
