X54 Bullets

Still experimenting myself, but have found these two to work well.

If out of an SVT40 your brass will be fluted after firing provided you can find it..............Harold

I meant as far as accuracy goes. I've shot surplus and factory offerings from 150-200 gr.

That I'm still working on - best I can say at this point is somewhat better than Barnaul or MFS at 100M, which is not saying much LOL. Have a couple new ladder test groups (mild loads to work on gas setting #3) ready for this coming weekend if weather holds.

I'd be curious to hear your results BillD, if you'd like to post them here. I'm a tad disappointed to hear it's not a lot better accuracy with just any hand load. I'll probably give it a go regardless as I have multiple firearms in the caliber and want to try it with a few of them.

mbogo3, I hear what you're saying but from what I have read the fluting effect on them isn't very detrimental. As for brass, I often shoot with my pack beside me to deflect brass down right beside me. I hand load for a few auto loaders so I'm accustomed to the various methods of herding brass and to looking in the tall grass for it. Good way to let the rifle cool between groups.

I have similar test batches ready for my M39 also; hopefully I don't shoot my chrony LOL!
