I think I'm going to try to put a piggy in the deep-freeze, assuming they're any good to eat.

Wondering if anyone knows if they've been spotted in the Lloydminster area. I'd be willing to drive an hour or so to get at them.

Hate to rain on your parade, :) but you'd better plan on hunting hard and long, Alberta has even discontinued the bounty cause there was so little demand. Also, illegal to bait them here, I just discovered.

They're fully legal to hunt at any time and anywhere for licensed hunters in British Columbia.
I wouldn't mind doing that myself.
Anyone sight any closer to the Lower Mainland area? ;)

I know most CGN'er hate Facebook but I recently signed up and Wildboar Canada has an excellent page full of info and conversation with people who really know boars. The biologist from University of Sask posts on there all the time and really dispels all kinds of myths surrounding hunting and culling wild boar.
Conversation was brought up about how they taste and it was mentioned a lot has to do with their diet..I guess they consume huge amounts of frogs in the warm months and can taste absolutely rank. Old boars are also pretty nasty.

Cheers!!

I still have some of a young one in freezer and he is delicious. He was shot late last winter. I first tasted wild boar when I was stationed in Germany, it was good then, there, too.

Part of me wishes we had them due to the hunting opportunities but way to destructive on natural species. Just shot one in Maui last week and my wife and I had tenderloin skewers and cooked up an entire quarter in the oven at the condo. Other than a moose roast it may be the best wild game I have eaten.

Two sides to the story, good hunting, but definitely problem wildlife, at least ours don't glow in the dark. :)
