Recommended optics for the casual shooter.

I have read few posts here saying the Vortex scopes are starting to show Q.C. issues, any truth to this?

I would say yes.

However, if for recreation only, they are a great value and have an amazing warranty.

Not for the hunt of a lifetime or for life safety.... IMO

I'd look at the bushnell ar optics

they're inexpensive but good features for the money

I don't think they are waterproof though

The Bushnell AR 1-4x-24mm illuminated might work for you. At 1x the illuminated reticle acts somewhat like a red dot sight and at higher powers the .223 drop zone reticle becomes larger and usable illuminated or not. Can likely get these in the 300-350 range

The Bushnell AR1-4 as Jaylegger suggested is a widely used AR optic and works well. It is a good compromise between a scope and RDS.

If you want a cheap RDS, then the Bushnell TRS-25 or the Primary Arms and Holosun line are well respected in the $150-$260 ish range.

i will be bashed by he name brand need to spend a lot crowd
however i have now been shooting to 100 yards for 6 years ,,no expert but
if you arent going into competition

Meopta is likely the clearest glass for the money. A used meopta is about the best buy in scopes there is. The glass in them is only slightly less quality than Swarovski. I own have or have owned vortex sightron leupold schmidt bender nightforce Swarovski and many others. If clarity is a priority meopta is hard to beat.

So, you've bought a Ferrari, and you're looking for some steel wheels and Korean rubber at Wal-Mart?

At least put Aimpoints on those $2800 rifles.

For "just poking holes" a lakefield 22 and simmons fixed 4X would have done. Putting cheap optics on crazily expensive rifles is just wasting the money twice. Like serving Lagavulin and Seven-Up.

Spend a grand or more on each rifle, or put an Aimpoint Pro on each rifle. Buy used and you can get 100% of your money back later, if you choose.

I realize I've been a bit sharp, here, and I apologize.

But majority of us just want to pose with the gun naked in front of the washroom mirror?
