Myself I prefer hair splitting accuracy, so if it's not some kind of small caliber dedicated target pistol, a decent revolver with a good barrel and a great SA trigger break would be my own number 2.
that's just me though.......to each his own.....and at least we are all handgun shooters.......

Agreed, however there's no way I'm bringing nice target pistols into a muddy field, putting them in a holster, beating the snot out of them on a course, shooting them thousands of rounds with minimal cleaning, or loaning them to friends new to shooting. Theres a time and place for a Walther GSP, Sig X5, or Match grade 1911 and a time and place for a service pistol. For the latter you'd be hard pressed to beat a G17.
