Forgive me ignorance if this info is already somewhere that I just cant find, but i'm looking to buy a bare action to build on, probly a Tikka maybe Remington I haven't decided. Does anyone know where I can buy just actions themselves or have them brought in? thanks!

Saw some Rem700 at CanAmmo.... About the price of a SPS rifle.
Never seen a Tikka action, but they would be one of the last I'd probably want to build on... Just a cheap design really.
You can pick up a Howa barreled actions in the US which might save you some time and money if you are looking for a common chambering. The Howa/Vanguards are nice solid actions.

i think your one of the first I've ever hear that doesn't like the Tikka action. I've never owned one so cant say if I love em or not but I haven't ever heard an ill word about them before

I put my last one together using a Tikka T3. I wanted a 70 degree or less bolt throw to allow for more bolt handle to scope clearance, as it was built as a dedicated varmint/predator rifle. Most of this hunting is done in January/February and I'm running pretty heavy gloves. Certainly nothing wrong with a tikka once you've scrapped the stock, barrel, bottom metal, bolt shroud and recoil lug. Oh and install a yodave trigger spring.

Buy a whole gun used on the EE and strip it down.

I got a M700 SA last week and a M700 LA last fall that way. I'd rather have an older 700 than the current offerings.

OP, cdnshooter is a good guy and very knowledgable, but he throws shade on Tikkas for emotional reasons. Loudly. Multiple times per thread.

Anybody who suggests throwing away Tikka barrels is a few cards short of a full deck. The rest, you can argue about. :)

Tikkas have a large and growing aftermarket because of their virtues, not their limitations.

Cdnshooter, I mean no offence. You have a lot of good things to say on a ton of topics, but your one bad experience with a Tikka has made you an absolutely *rabid* critic. In this area, you're not objective.
