guys I shot me rifle over 200m other day, with 7x the cross hairs arnt real fine however with the 139gr load, 40gr varget POI @ 100m + 1.5 , POI @ 200 is what id call 2.5/3 inch low and I have shot 300m but cant recall exactly... I will do so next few days..

I have the 120s side by side, an its POI 100m- +3, 200m- +1 and was about 300m - 6/7 inches... which seems right for around about 2900 fps..

but the 139 load surprised me a little, I guess its realistic.. 22 inch tube an a gr below min in the charge weight....

I doubt its been knocked off line since last tested a few weeks ago at 100m,,, hasn't ever in the past. & the 120gr results indicate its right with them. I use both loads for same scope adjustments. ones +3 and ones + 1.5

cheers

40 gr Varget might get you around 2650 fps or slower. So those POI numbers don't look too surprising. Assuming a .453 BC with a 2650 fps MV, you're 1.5" @ 100m and -2.5" @ 200m and -15" @ 300m. If you sight that load for 200m, you'll be around 2.7" at 100M, on at 200M, -11" at 300. You'll still have 2000fps at around 400M so don't want to shoot past that to ensure proper bullet performance if you're using solids.

ive found with the Kimber it just wont do powder in the case lol. the only accuracy and no sticky bolt is low in the charge weights.. Varget-
so loaded for ok hunting accuracy and case life without ringing the ass end out of the brass.

not using metals, 139gr hornady interlocks, 140gr woodleighs and 120gr sierras..

I rekon I did the math to be about 2680-2650 fps give or take...... So you're right, it does seem to line up..

fpr interests I had a 270 with varget & 130gr... 2850 fps est. +2.5 , 0-200 and -15 300m..

hmmmmmm

real world numbers.

+1.5 100m
-2.5/3 200m
-12 320m -/+

still weird.. might be time to shoot off these hornadys an work up a new load with Woodleighs for Winter, but short notice High Country trip this coming weekend.... I tested POIs today...... roughly without shootin groups.. those were the numbers.
backline hold on a sambar at 300m an if a big bugger X hair Verticle 350 but hmm..... anyway. FPS must be around what we mentioned above. 2650-2680??

still got the knack of the ultralight to master yet, I'm still having to concentrate beyond all concentration levels just to shoot it straight otherwise its anyones guess where centre group is LOL.. (in short. will do me fine as is however... luckily for big deer ey)

What make of brass are you using? Federal has a reputation for being soft, so you might not be able to get a max. load.

What the heck is NNY?

I ran a 7-08 kimber up to 2690, where it maxed out using a 139gr sst and W760 powder. Actually, that was where I settled on a decent load, but it showed pressure signs just a hair higher in powder charge.

Not sure why those rifles don't like speed...I had a .308 that was similar. The .270 that I settled on though runs a 130 at close to 3000. Maybe it's a short vs long action thing with these rifles.

Adjust your scope to give your point of impact another minute and a half elevation, and your trajectory numbers will look like this:

+3 at 100
0 at 200
-7 at 320

Essentially, you will be able to use a dead on hold out to a bit less than 300 meters on big game.

Cheers mate, I do like the look of that out further, might be something to consider with the 140gr Woodleigh loads ill sight in for winter soon.. however I think 3 inch high at 100 is just too high for me , most of the hunting is in close 100-150m an I think with the 3+ it can get a bit higher in its peak, an I'm already known to let them fly over the Back of Game on a good day... ha ha!
+2 I can deal with I rekon, an that should be giving me around -10? at 300.... which I can work with :D

cheers
