TO Insert a cartridge or not....?

I think you guys are missing the point here and are being very short sighted. Shooting sports, firearms ownership and hunting are all under attack. Can we really afford to marginalize and/or dismiss half of the population? This is not about whether or not a model in a picture "deserves" these comments, it is about creating the space where women can be comfortable and feel included in the camaraderie in a safe and respectful manner. CGN is a public forum, we have and need female members... as many as we can get... and we need women and kids to get involved in hunting and shooting sports. Do you think threads and commemts like these help or hurt that cause? You can say you "don't give a rats azz" now, but we'll check back in 20 years from now.

I don't disagree with you Hoyt, but there is a flip side to that........

Why is it immediately assumed that a woman should be offended by this?. As I mentioned before, my better half had a chuckle at the creative wordplay here and she just recently joined the shooting community (if that matters).

If alienating new/future gun owners because of site content is truly a concern, then maybe we should all stop slamming entry level gear, and minimizing sarcasm on newbie question threads.
(not directing that at you).

No..... maybe it's not the right content for every "shooter", but I would assume neither are the pics/stories in the hunting section.

Reading this thread has been almost like reading the "comments" on a CBC pro-gun article LOL

My better half had a chuckle as well over it and the "comments"...her comment was "well they will both look like forty miles of bad road in 5 yrs and at least the car can be newly "muffled" when it needs it...

Some might not be offended... many would... we need those ones on board too. My point is only to "know your audience" and act accordingly. Campfire humour at the campfire, sort of thing.

Did a totally unscientific test yesterday at a dinner party. Picture and comments ,were viewed by no less than 10 women, some shooters, some not. Lifestyles run from doctors, lawyers to biker chicks(yes the wife from knob hill and me from a working family make for interesting conversation) Not a one was offended and the more educated the more humorous they found it.

Moral of the story stop eating the social drivel that all men are masogonistic phobes of some kind and women are downtrodden wall flowers. No I will not stand for any man putting hands on or talking trash about any woman and I will be the first to call one out on it. The political correct pendulum has swung a bit to far these days. I spent my childhood watching my mother and all us kids getting beat and told we were worthless, by a binge drinking, abuser so I do know the difference between unacceptable behavior and the real world. The other one of my childhood ain't pretty!!

Not to harsh anybody's mellow, but this thread should have been in OT.

CGN's OT forum: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Edit: Duh. The "News Digest" forum is a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

I wonder how many of those women, outside of the context of a social gathering with it's associated pressures to "not rock the boat" have now altered their opinion of both you and Canadian firearms owners in general. Your test was foolish IMO.

Borderline ' Men's locker room ' humour at best.
I'm with hoytcanon on this one, it does the sport no favors.
And anyone who want's to disagree with me, crack on.
Please; leave off the 'Take it to PM' nonsense, what is your plan then...type in capitals? Swear a lot?
It's a public forum, act like you are in public...manners and consideration toward women is a good start.

IMO the women I socialize with are the first to voice their opinion when displeased and it takes a great deal more than this to offend. You do it your way and I will keep doing it mine!

To be honest, I don't really think this belongs in this forum..... maybe OT or something.....

I love a good pun, and even more, a good funny analogy...... and ###uality is free game IMOP...... we all have it whether female or male...... and when in a group of guys, I would be the first to throw it out where no women would hear it... and even sometimes where women are doing likewise...(some of you guys, gmc I am looking at you, did some really clever and non offensive stuff here)....

But, inevitably, it crosses the line when people start completely objectifying the subject and start tossing out words like "whore" and saying "she deserves it"..... completely uncalled for IMOP......

Off topic threads definitely.....

Post a picture of your latest purchase....don't think so.

Not that I'm offended by any of it, entertaining yup, worth arguing lol nope.

It'll be locked eventually- ible...

Dogleg..........how do you know her feed lips need tweaking.........you got a better photo than what I'm looking at, cause I can't quite see her feed lips..........Looks to me like she'd feed just FINE!!!!!!!!

I'll admit, I did a tiny bit of guessing based on which side she slapped on the bench but that lead me to believe that she needed a little widening on the starboard side.

However, best not to leap to conclusions based on a single picture without talking to the customer. Could be asking about flaring her mag-well, but that just wouldn't be right on a collectors item.

Yes this post will definitely help convince the person sticking their toe in the water here that we're not a bunch of mouth breathers. Perhaps a little class and taste would inform our decisions.

Everyone knows 'That guy' who makes slightly off color remarks in front of women. Folks; sort of laugh, in a not 'really hilarious' way...don't want to be a 'stick in the mud' right?
I think 'That guy' would probably fine it pretty funny. I don't find it that funny...must be a stick in the mud. Nudes and innuendo are fine in the locker room and Rig Doghouse, I don't find it fine in Public. But I'm old fashioned I suppose.
Carry on, it's pretty funny...really.

Well DL...............the morality police have really thrown a wet blanket on this parade...........All I know is if that was mine it would never leave the vault, for fear of getting "dinged up"..........except of course for regular cleaning and oiling.......

Sorry, Douglas... but my opinion on this particular thread has nothing to do with morality... ask those that know me, my humour is far more "out there" than anything posted here. This is all about a proper "time & place." I really enjoy shooting sports, and I would like my grandchildren to enjoy it too... as a community, we better start shifting gears... this "good ole' boy" stuff just doesn't fly in the new world... like it or not it is counterproductive to the greater good.
