Where to buy bare actions?

Forgive me ignorance if this info is already somewhere that I just cant find, but i'm looking to buy a bare action to build on, probly a Tikka maybe Remington I haven't decided. Does anyone know where I can buy just actions themselves or have them brought in? thanks!

IIRC, a site sponsor ( North Pro Sports ) had Remington actions listed...
Then there is Mystic Precision who is also a site sponsor...
Be prepared tp open you wallet wide.

$600 for a action, another $300 + to get it trued, etc.( which you'll end up doing). Puts you in custom territory (almost).
You can buy a rem AAC .308 HB for $800.

Gary at Big Horn Sales has great prices and service, I buy all my stuff for builds from him.

Ryan at SFRC has several Rem 700 actions in stock as well, great guy to deal with and great service too!

OP, cdnshooter is a good guy and very knowledgable, but he throws shade on Tikkas for emotional reasons. Loudly. Multiple times per thread.

Anybody who suggests throwing away Tikka barrels is a few cards short of a full deck. The rest, you can argue about. :)

Tikkas have a large and growing aftermarket because of their virtues, not their limitations.

Cdnshooter, I mean no offence. You have a lot of good things to say on a ton of topics, but your one bad experience with a Tikka has made you an absolutely *rabid* critic. In this area, you're not objective.

I think you mean I am the loud tikka disliker.
I do agree with him about throwing most of the rifle away. Waiting on a barrel for mine as we speak.

I've been trying to get some info on the Montana m-1999. Control round feed complete action with bottom metal and trigger for $850 us. From what I understand they're a model 70 clone and will fit in a model 70 stock with a little bit of fitting for the safety. Prophet river sells their complete rifles. I asked them
For some more details, but haven't heard anything yet.

We can also sell their actions and barreled actions. :)

I was wondering about that all I heard were good things about tikka.

To the OP, ever consider a Mauser 98 action? If so, Tradex has a bunch of left-over M69's that would make great donor actons. The best M69's have long sold off, but the remaining stock have some great parts to get you going. Just a thought.

If not, I highly recommend a Tikka T3 action. Rigid and strong.

The T3x is unquestionably overpriced, but it's almost a sure thing that it will be reliable and accurate with a great trigger. This is also true of X-bolts (also overpriced) and Howa/Vanguards, in that price range.

The Xbolt, Tikka, and Howa are three of the safest bets in their price ranges. That's inherently good.

The Xbolt and Tikka are also both lightweight, and available left handed. Readily available, on shelves everywhere. *You can get them*. Model 70s, Kimbers etc. are better, but they don't exist, for all intents and purposes.

Jeez tough crowd, I thought I was giving tikka some praise there lol!
We all get to have our own opinions on stuff...

Tikka is starting to fix up the place, they have a steel lug and shroud now, but they still offer a crap-tastic bottom metal. The mags are tolerable but a plastic trigger guard. (It's not space age polymer guys, just recycled milk jugs) and the plastic stocks are just that. Then as for barrels...the overwelming majority of factory barrels from all makers are just nothing to write home about
