Hi everybody,

Thinking about getting Score slugs and 00 buckshot made by Prairie Shot ammo. Have you tried them in your black shotty? I never say no for canadian made ammo:)

Thanks for feedback.

Nothing but good to say about them. $23/25 rds at wholesale sports is hard to say no to when some shops are selling Win and Rem rifled slugs for almost $10/5 rds. They've been 100% reliable in all mine and my friends shotguns both pumps and semi's. The slugs are tougher than the big name brand rifled slugs too. I don't bother with anything else any more. I use their birdshot for drills and redneck skeet too. I believe I've fired 300+ slugs and 300-400 birdshot.

...Have you seen them recently at WSS for $23/25?

I have used thousands of their slugs. Good deal for the money. They certainly aren't tougher than Brenneke or federal deep penetrator but they are better than plain foster slugs. They are slower though...

Thanks for the info I just ordered from WSS 75 1 oz and 50 1 1/8 oz Score 12 gauge slugs to try out.

125 slugs for $133.23 shipped best price I've ever seen on slugs... :)

Interesting I'm assuming the 1 oz will be 7/8 oz then = I'm ok with it.

I recently bought a Mossberg Thunder Ranch O/U 12 gauge for my almost 10 year old son to use as his camp/grouse/walk about gun also bought him a couple cases of 12 gauge low recoil 7/8 oz 8 shot target loads plan is to let him blast away next time we are out camping/hiking.

He can get his first hunting license on March 24 when he turns ten his hunting rifle is a Savage Axis LH youth in 243.

I want to get them from Wolverine, about $234 for 200 slugs shipped is not bad to me. Also think about score 00 buckshot but their load dont use granule filler to cushion the pellest, would be a big difference on pattern or not so much? I use a cylinder choke. Thanks.

A lot depends on the rest of your barrel's interior profile, for example if you've got a lengthened forcing bore and/or some kind of back boring, then you should be able to get decent patterns out of basic budget buckshot even with cylinder bore, if not, then probably not.

Thankyou for the input.

What are you shooting slugs by the case at? Target shooting? I don't think I have shot 10 slugs in 35 years? In fact I have been carrying two left from a box of 5 Imperial Poly Kor slugs in my shooting bag since about 1985 as a just in case I have a tag to fill and only have my shotgun with me. :)

Best way to discover what a shotgun can do with slugs is to shoot it because its just plain fun! From now on,i will buy every 12 ga shells by the case, cant have too much food for a 12 :dancingbanana:
