Hello all,
I bought the Frankford Arsenal Primer Tube Filler to ease the pain of having to individually stab primers into my Hornady LnL AP press primer filler tubes. That takes the speed out of an AP press!
But for the life of me I cannot get it to work, it keeps flipping primers over , blocking the port to the filler tube, and if the primers do go in, they stop in the plastic upper portion of the filler tube.
Has anybody used one of these devices successfully and can give me some tips and tricks?
Thanks in advance.

Mine works ok.... But I have to flip them right side up before putting the top on and then attach it to the primer tube.

Occasionally and primer gets caught on an angle just before dropping into the primer tube.... I just take the primer tube off and stick a pin or something up there to straighten out the primer.

It is a little bit of a pain, but it works ok

Does your primer tube fill all the way easily? My primer tube top (the plastic portion) keeps jamming up. maybe I need to check for burrs and take a small round file to it.
Thanks for giving me hope, atleast someone is using this device.

Make sure you're using the correct end for small and large primers to prevent flipping.
Deburr everything from the holes in the plastic tray to the plastic on the tubes.

I also bought a set of Dillon primer tube fillers for my Hornady LnL.
They take much less effort than the Hornady tubes when stabbing primers.

I know this isn't what you are looking for but I had one that worked just as good as yours. After a month of frustration it was either mangle the "F"ing thing or do something else drastic. I listed it along with everything bad I could think of on the EE and believe it or not someone bought it for $50.00. Hopefully they had better luck than I did with it and if not they were well warned that it was a POS. I'll keep saving my money and get myself a Dillon primer filler at some point.

I don't use the Hornady primer tubes anymore...dillon's are much better. You can get em from Midway or Brownells

My FA vibra prime works flawlessly. I second the Dillon tubes for stabbing. I would like to own a Dillon primer tube filler but want someone else to pay for it!
Truthfully with my auto drive running and 900/h I can keep up with the vibra prime.

Thanks all for their insights. I will persevere with the FA for some more time before I mangle the f****ing thing! The tip on using Dillon primer tubes is invaluable, thanks.

If your having issues with the FA unit itself, contact frankford. they have fantastic service and will easily send you out what you need.

Mine was a PITA, and after they send two new updated parts it runs great. might have 1 minor jam per 100, which only requires a mild shake for it to release. Takes about 10-15seconds to vibrate 100 down the tube in an orderly (no jam) fashion.

Thanks a lot. Didnt even think of that. WIll do so right now.

Update: received a reply Monday afternoon for a contact via website Sunday afternoon. That's good in my opinion.
FA CSR suggested not installing the top tray and trying it out. In the meantime they are sending me a new bottom tray. Will report back on the results.

There is still hope!

As promised an update:
The suggested tip of not using top cover did not work.
I received a package from Battenfield Technologies containing a new tray assembly. That works much better. It's still not a 100% but I can live with the occasional jam.

What brand of primers are you using? I've found mine works great with CCI and Federal, but Dominion will jam occasionally as they drop from the tray into the primer tube. I think the Dominion have a slighter more rounded cup.

I'm using Dominian small primers and Winchester large primers. ^That^ explains the issues I'm having, it's the dominions that are causing more grief. But with the new tray it's a lot better.

Just to let everyone know, the dillon filler is a pita as well. I had to mess with mine for days to get it to work and i still get the occasional flipped primer.

I don't get flipped primers, just occasionally one gets tilted a bit as it drops from the primer tray into the primer tube. That primer gets stuck, but usually I can get it going with a little up/down shake.

Ya it seems like they are hit and miss. I have a friend who literally unboxed his and it worked right away. Another friend like me who gets 1 or 2 flipped per hundred and then i have read others who ended up giving up.

I had to play with the spring on the bottom of mine as well as put a wedge under the plastic piece where the primers drop into the tube. I am content with it but i dont think its worth $500. It i didnt have it i would buy the FA one this thread is about.

Update time: I drilled a small hole (5/32"IIRC) on the primer tray top cover just above the primer drop hole on the primer tray. That helps a lot to sort out the odd tilted primer that sticks before dropping into the tube.
Hope that helps the FA primer tube filler users.
