Handgun Size Comparison

wow, can't believe i just broke the number one rule of firearms, i am so pissed at myself right now-- treat every firearm as if it is loaded,,, in my 3rd pic my finger is inside the trigger, i feel like a total idiot, even though i just checked both firearms and knew they were unloaded---treat every firearm as if it is loaded always!!!!!
Honestly can't believe i just did that :(

??? Are you OK?

Very nice!!!

You have a real Beretta (straight dustcover) and a real Sig (no rails)!!! I miss old styled pistols from the 80's!!!!

Good idea for a thread. My contributions:

Old-school compacts: Makarov vs 1922

1922 .380 vs .22 Buckmark:

Modern vs old-school compacts - Glock 19 vs Makarov

Full-size polymer guns - 10mm Glock vs HK45

HK45 vs Glock 19

HK45 vs 460V

And at the extreme end, size-difference-wise: Makarov vs 460V

Yes, straight dust covers, no rails and bluing! Not these fancy modern finishes with fancy modern names for what I would call black paint.

The best lesson is one you teach yourself. You'll never so that again!
Now go say 10 Hail Jeff Coopers and eat some popcorn!

That's another perfect example of what I envisioned when I thought about starting this thread. I have held a DE, I know how big they are, but I had no idea that HK was even in the same neighborhood yet alone ballpark. That thing is HUGE!

Hi everyone,

I've had the idea to start this thread for a while. Hopefully people find it helpful.

I live in a small, remote town with a local gun store that has a pretty decent selection of handguns for its size, but I still don't have many opportunities to handle everything I would like to and even fewer opportunities to actually shoot all the guns I would like to. So I end up buying a lot of guns online sight unseen to try them out. Some I like and some don't fit my hand very well so I put them back into the ever flowing current of life that is the EE. I enjoy trying out new guns but it is a time consuming and expensive process of trial and error.

Hearing about a new (to me) gun and reading about it on the internet only goes so far, I find that I get a better impression if I can find a picture of the new gun next to a gun I'm already familiar with. So below you will find some pictures of various guns I have owned next to one another. Most of the pictures have the guns placed top-of-slide to top-of-slide, sort of mirroring one another. If I could only pick one comparative position, (which I did), in my experience this perspective has worked best for me but your mileage may vary.

Anyway, hopefully people like myself with limited exposure options can use this thread to learn a few things and maybe even post requests. "Hi GGN! I'm thinking about picking up a .44 automag. Can someone post a picture of theirs next to a J-frame snubby so I can get a better idea of difference in barrel length?" Or something to that effect.

Happy and safe shooting everyone!

If you can find an AIRSOFT store in your area that has the GOOD ONES? The guns that look just the real thing, not the cheap plastic ones then you're in business. They are usually much more relaxed about handling too and these are actually used by police as a cheaper alternative to training with live rounds so if you're at a loss for ammo? A good way to go is airsoft for a bit of practice! Plus? Unlike the REAL 12.2's? Airsoft full autos can be fired on the back '40 no problem! Not as fun, mind you but at least you can do just about anything out on the acreage.

Oh and P.S.? Airsoft don't come with those pesky bullsh!t magazine restrictions either! Don't need an ATC for the handguns, just don't do anything stupid and strap one on and waltz into the 7-11 with it in a thigh rig.
