How much should a Pistol de-value over time?

If you buy new, guns are like cars. 99.99% you will not resell for close to new price, unless the cdn$ tanks like it did couple yrs ago.
For example I bought my GP100 in 2008 for 650$. I can still sell for pretty much the same today, but that's with today's devalued Cdn$

If you invest in guns, buy NIB or lightly used ones at a good price off the EE. Many good deals crop up if you got the patience and the biggie .... If you're lucky. Timing is important. I may have lost a few bucks on the resale of a new norkie I bought from SFRC.

But I made it up on its replacement that was an awesome deal. It's like a strategic retreat. You will win in the end if you make the right calls. Vast majority of my EE sells and buys have been very profitable, but still very fair to buye and seller.

The price you paid for something is largely irrelevant really in the equation. It is what something is "worth" to the buyers in the market. If people price things too high there will be few, if any, willing to pay that amount. Items priced correctly sell fast. Some individuals price items far too high in the hopes of finding the one person that will pay too much but usually those things never sell. People can ask whatever they want but what price things actually sell for is usually another number.

Spot on.

Bought a gen 3 Glock 17 about 7 years ago for $600. Probably can get that for it now. They really don't depreciate that much. Around the same time I bought a minty colt combat commander for $700. I have no doubt I could sell it for about $900 now.

To the OP, why not just drop the price by $20 next time you bump the ad? If it's still there a week later, drop it by $20 again.

This is what I do if I list in the WTS. I list it, drop it by $50 every week until it's gone. However, my first look is always in the WTB in hopes that someone wants what I'm selling. I find it avoids the half-hearted, bull####ters, and those looking for a steal of a deal to resell for profit.
