Share your hunting superstitions.

I'm gonna implement every single superstition in this thread simultaneously next November. Gonna fill the freezer fersherrrr!

Never leave home with more than five cartridges for the partridges. If I can't get my limit with five, they deserve to roam free for another day.

I'm convinced if I take out the 21H, it's a given not a tag will be cut.
I've tried and tried to break the spell, but nawt a'ope in heck.
Now I just admire the prettinest of'er.

My daughter came home from school with "Magic Reindeer dust". I sprinkle a pinch on the ground every new spot I hunt and carry it in my backpack... it hasn't let me down yet.

Lmao - my kids that stuff home two years in a row (same teacher). Disaster inside if "Magic Reindeer dust" is working for you outside, more power to you!!!!!

I don't know if it's superstition or not; but have found that if conditions are poor or I'm busting my ass that luck tends to be very poor and I'm suffering for nothing. The ones I do get tend to come fast and easy or not at all. Therefore; I'm better off just going out and playing and shooting the easy ones. A week of misery might make you feel like you earned the easy buck, bull or bear that showed up and just stood there looking retarded but never had anything to do with it. Most of the game
I get is aware of my presence, but for that one instant chose not to run away. It's almost like a gift or something.

LOL, speaking of gifts I got one this year... had one follow me back to the truck. I had already cased my xbow and was getting ready to leave, got my phone out to call my dad and thought I saw something out of the corner of my eye... turned and there was a doe that had circled my truck. I got out, opened the back door, took my bow out of the case, cocked it, loaded it, got down on one knee and shot it at 30 yards. Couldn't believe it stood there whole time let alone followed me out of the bush lol... talk about a death wish. Must have been the reindeer dust lol.

I feel "let down" when it comes too easily... like on day one at the boat launch, or on the drive in... I would vastly prefer to work my ass off for a week and endure all manner of hardship before dropping the string.

I've felt that too; but have learned that it's better to get over it and take the gifts when they are offered. There's enough bad days to go around. My whitetail last year took me an hour; he was one of two that I was after for two years. If it weren't for cameras I wouldn't have known they existed.

Don't get me wrong... I won't pass up an animal on day one that I would gladly take on day six... but when it happens with that little effort, I do feel disappointed...

I took the first buck in 20 minutes last fall and it dropped 30 yards from the farm lane... the second buck was on the second day after looking at 50 or so deer... and I backed the truck right up to it... these were little meat bucks as our freezer died an we lost all of our game meat. I still have not gotten into the "trail cam" thing... I suspect that they likely open your eyes to what's out there.

I resisted the trail cams for too long, then finally thought Id get "just one". They do open your eyes; its easier to wait for something that you know exists. If it doesn't and theres never been a shooter making an appearance, its a good stand to put your brother-in-law in.

I started with "just one " trail cam, then I caught a few big boys on camera and felt the need to install a few more, so many in fact, I forgot wear a few where and some places have cameras watching cameras watching cameras lol.
