Browning Maral

I think this tops it....... the handle on that thing looks like the shifter on my snowblower......

Ahhh, but can you reach the shifter on your snowblower? Had they stayed with the factory bolt knob of the BAR, it would have proven difficult to manipulate at the shoulder. The rifle should be a strong competitor against other straight pull rifles now on the market, and is arguably faster, since the bolt only has to be manually cycled in one direction.

No doubt the bolt thandle is that shape and size for a reason........ doesn't make it any more attractive though...

You're making me wonder how easy the rearward cycle is if it has to have enough force to chamber a round on its own forward cycle....

The guy in the video doesn't look like superman, but maybe a better question is, does reliable chambering continue after a few dozen rounds have fouled the action?

While on some level I do agree that appearance matters, sometimes performance can over ride it.

An old cowboy saying told to me many years ago by a crusty old timer in reference to horses.

"Pretty is as Pretty does boy!"

"That ugly roman nosed plug you're sittin' on is gonna look like the prettiest damsel at the dance when you're climbing the mountains on a sheep hunt and your horse just keeps on goin' while your partners pretty horse with registration papers is standing there heaving it's sides like a locomotive and your buddy is rubbin' the blisters on his heels."

maral in 9.3x62 is a good idea ....

They chamber it in the wagner......

Inter stingy enough, I did a quick bit of research and the springs that bring the action forward are actually in the forestock..... fouled chamber shouldn't make too much of a difference.......

In a country like Canada and the US where a semi-auto Browning BAR can legally hold as many rounds, this gun doesn't make a whole lot of sense, which is why it's not marketed here. The Browning Acera was a flop, and I imagine this one will be as well. Their main competitor will be Blaser and I don't think they'll have much luck in taking sales away from them.

Could the recoil #### the spring?

What do you mean?

The Maral has a 10 round mag available. Legal in Canada as it is not a semi.

Browning makes the BLR, which is probably the ugliest rifle in production today.

I think that award ''ugliest rifle'' would be the sks myself.
Thats just me though.
Would really like to see and handle the Maral though.
Looks pretty enough and functional too.
As for the take down I would prefer the Blazer Attaché .
See one in 30:06 @Chiiliwack gun show week or so back, didn't get a price on it.
Even had the wooden bolt knob ...
