Does anyone here in Canada know a good brand of cut off saw for cutting tubing for making jackets? I have been using a pipe cutter and then a case trimmer to get a uniform end, but it's slow and tedious.

On Castboolits in the swaging section, they are always talking about the harbour freight saw.
I was just wondering if there was something similar, that the swagers here could recommend.
Thanks

Used mine for a few thousand brass. They're not exactly high quality but they work, and fast with a trim jig. Had to take mine apart, reset clearances on a couple items and make sure everything was snugged up so it wont move again but for the price I completely understand why theyre not exactly high quality.

for cutting tubbing the best mini chop saw i found was the praxxon , it will cost you more but will save you headaches.

ive used several small mini cheap chop saws.... for the occasional cut they are good but if you want convenient consistency than consider the proxxan.
also used for many other tasks like making 300 blackout or turning 30-06 to 8mm brass and otehr small tasks.

Look's great! But what's the price?

I decided to stick with my current way of doing things. The choice of a $100 saw with mixed reviews and a $300 saw that was out of my price range, wasn't really a choice for me. I am trying to save all my pennies for swaging equipment.

I did order new cutters for my case trimmer, as it is the tool that is slowing everything down. I have a huge stack of 5.56 to cut next, so I may reconsider when more cash is free.

Thanks again

$250usd according to the site + ship + duty.

Nice but mine has served me very well and foresee it doing so for some time yet.

bought mine from home depot online a few years back, was about $300
its not cheap but you get what you pay for, this thing has plenty power smooth operation and very sturdy, solidly build. there are other blades sold for it as well such as diamond blades carbide high tooth count blades etc.
if your looking cutting copper tubbing another consideration would be to purchase a small miter saw.
something along 7 inch diam' miter saw like this one

This saw works well. A buddy of mine uses one. He installs closet organizers..
Couple of other thoughts.. I see corded 7 1/2'' miter saws at garage sales for $30.00 .. Or in my compound bow days when I shot aluminum arrows. The guy at the shop used a arrow saw to cut them off.. Shouldn't be to hard to build on for fair cheap..

I have a Harbor Freight mini chop saw. Use it to chop 223 down to 300 BLK. Cuts through the brass like its butter. Cost $35USD

I 3D printed a jig for it for trimming brass. It would be very easy to make a jig for tub out of wood or aluminum.

Harbor freight is the parent company of princess auto. Have you checked if they have anything that fits the bill?

If it's junk you can always return stuff to PA.

Does anyone use a bandsaw for cutting tubing? Saw sharpening shops can make a blade just for this operation. I'm just putting this out there in case there is a bandsaw in your shop looking for something to do.
