FYI, Rampart International in Ottawa will honour certificates for Glock pistols that are donated as prizes by Glock USA. I wish I knew that after winning one in Florida for the steel side match at the IDPA State Championship. Nobody from Glock who was there knew if the certificate could be redeemed in Canada, so I sold it cheap instead of taking a chance. Oh well...

I redeemed on a year or two ago... Not through Rampart, but it was pretty easy and only took a couple of weeks to receive the pistol.
IIRC all I had to do was send the original certificate and give my PAL # and shipping address..

Americans take shooting sport much more seriously down there. It's like golf.

There's also a huge market to court...
A lot of the sponsors/supporters of the larger matches in the US are manufacturers or... Very large resellers like Brownell's or Double Star...
Here in Canada we haven't much or either.

alot of companies consider donations to the shooting sports as "zero gain" and just dont do it..... believe me, i have tried everyone. yes we are a small "league" (4 clubs, 50 shooters) but the only support we have seen is at the local level.

ontario clubs may have better luck.

^We have CC, NEA, ATRS, PGW, Cadex, Dlask.

Elcan, TT for optics.

Small potatoes compared to the US.
Most can't afford to or font see any return in giving away free stuff.
In comparison companies like FN Herstal sponsored matches where they coughed up 50+ pistols and about a dozen of their rifles.

Or companies in Canada simply don't have the mentality to do sponsorship/marketing. Again, in the US they treat this as an actual sport versus simply fun time at the range in Canada.

Ben Stoeger's podcast from a week or so ago had a good discussion of match sponsorship from the perspective of sponsors with tips for those hoping to get sponsorships.

.

Will have to check in with that again, watched it a lot few years back. Always enjoyed it.

Hello; Years ago local stores would make token prizes to local matchs, much appreatiated. But it started to look like some were putting on matchs to get gifts and only a few special people were invited to attend. If the store knew you would do the right thing and give them credit then some still stood tall and helped out.

I have seen some pretty generous proxies provided by local stores at matches. Some businesses are very generous. I'm sure it helps the sport grow with matches being that much more exciting.
