The next little thing

My FIL tells me if you want to know what it's like to own a boat, go down to the dock and throw $100 bills in the water.

Any idea how fast you can push those 235s?

Haven't chrono'd them yet, hoping for 2400+, I just put together a quick mix of loads with H4895 and a few Speer 235s that were kicking around as I had to shoot her. I'll likely use a different powder (BLC2?) and will shoot the 235gr raptors down the road (not literally).

I at your feet and learn... thank you, Mary Lou Retton...

I googled her and discovered she's from the times of the dinosaurs. Completely at a loss on the reference but presuming it's gymnastics or Reagan related, both of which induce smiles. You can definitely tell your wife guns don't cost a thing and use that justification.

Mental gymnastics...

And it wasn't that long ago... jerk... ;)

I really like that 9.5 Ardent!! Iv had good luck using 48gr of 3031 in my 9.5. Quite a little thumper.

Fantastic!

I had a 1910 rifle, it went down the road when I got a Husky 98 9.3mm which I liked better. Still got a 1908 carbine. The 1908 has German proof and is missing the claw mounted scope that it once had, supposedly both are possible indicators that it was "liberated" from it's German owner.

Nice stuff Decker, and hey, if you have any spare 9.5 brass... or know somewhere that does, keep me in mind!

Ted, here's another view of her Ted, has an NECG banded from sight with hood now, still deciding on the rear sight. I bought an adjustable standard NECG, and their picatinny rear peep. Trying to figure what's going to the best irons setup for Grizz fun on the coast. The bolt is black because it's coated to prevent galling, titanium can't run against titanium bare. Kind of neat pulling the bolt as it almost feels like it's made of aluminum, always catches you off guard.

That is a nice piece, Ardent... but I am betting it is even more beautiful when you pick it up and mount it to your shoulder... your choice of chambering also really sets it apart. Since the bolt is "black" coated, I like the black sights for contrast... seems a more balanced look.

Does 9.5 brass exist? The shells I had were headstamped "DWM" so that gives an idea of the vintage.

Tradeex has Norma 9.3x57 brass, mine is marked Metalverkin or something like that.

It does but it certainly isn't common, I paid $10 a piece or so landed for my .375 2 1/4 Rimless Nitro Express (RNE) brass. Would prefer a cheaper way, and 8x57 fire forming takes some effort as its two fireformings for me to get it to fit right, one with no bullet, anneal, and one with a cheap bullet, then anneal and trim.

I have about 20 pieces of brass that grandad left behind with the rifle, they were made from 8x57 cases and there is a handful that were made from -06 brass. Iv been using them sparingly as Iv never really done any fireforming before lol.

I've given up on anything requiring more than a two step process, one pass through a forming die, and then through the FL die. I just don't have the time (or patience) for it any more... I do admire the tenacity required to produce truly funky cartridges.

"Yeaa...."

I actually hear you there. In this case it was an opportunity to max out the case, and was tempted. I like a one pass wildcat. Once I've done a couple hundred brass for this I'll forget about it and be happy I suspect.

Once the work is done it is clear sailing... but I'm stressed just thinking about prepping 200 brass... I'm going to take a nap...
