ATRS mags

Really hope i have no issue with mine after dropping close to $50 a mag.

I was just in the store 2 days ago and picked up one of the OD coloured mags. Guy at counter said they have quite a few but took them down from web site due to quality issues. We looked through a bunch of them and I could see a significant amount of colour difference throughout some of the mags, appeared to be an issue in the poly quality. I picked one that looked ok but had a slight magwell fit issue in one if the rifles on the rack. When released it would slide down but not cleanly drop out. Since it isn't for competition it will probably be good as a range mag and i'ii try a little light sanding to see if that solves anything.

So I just tried out my new mags at the range with my ACR. Results were... not great.

First thing I ran was 77g Black Hills. They are a little longer OAL then 55g ammo, but load and feed fine through Pmags, LAR15 mags, Alexander Arms 50BW mags and every other magazine I have tired. With the AT15 mags, if you try to chamber a round it drives the round into the locking lugs and pushes the bullet all the way back in the casing. I tried a few different mags, and wasn't able to get a single round to chamber no matter what I did.

I then tried a few different types of 55g ammo, and the same thing would happen about every 3 or 4 times I loaded a magazine. It seems to be better once you get down to about 8 rds in the magazine (I guess the lower spring pressure helps). The magazines run flawlessly through an AR15 with 55gr (didn't try 77gr with the AR), so it's obviously a combination of the gun and the magazine. I know they designed the rifle for AR style pistols, so it's hard to complain if they don't feed correctly in other guns.

I'm going to run it a bunch with only 8 rounds in the magazine, and see if that reduces the problem to a manageable level. If not, I think I might need to file a small amount of the magazine in front of the follower, as it looks like it's getting caught on that as it feeds. On the up side, they hold the bolt open 100% of the time, which my AA 50BW magazines did not do with any reliability. Also, they drop free without issues out of both the ACR and AR.

I have two here that function fine but don't drop free when the bolt locks back on empty. Other than that no issues. Have 8 coming and will update on those later.

I have two Gen 1s that worked fine for about 3 months of not so hard use and now they won't even lock in any AR 15. I would never buy them again, just a complete waste of money.

The 8 ATRS AT15 mags i ordered from SGW fit perfect in my AR15. Drop free much better than the 2 i have now. I will update once i dump few hundred rounds in them.

Ran 5 different types of ammo and all worked great. Bolt hold opens on empty and they all drop free no problem. Had a minor issue with JHP in one mag but worked fine in the other ones with slightly larger feed lip opening. Very satisfied.
