Picking a budget scope.

I got a banner for a friend on the EE for $45. Older model, made in Korea i think it was... seems decent enough considering the price, he put it on a savage axis in 30 06 and it hasn't broken yet. Eye relief isn't very good on it though.

The bushnell that came on my axis held up to a few hundred rounds of 270 before i upgraded, now it's on my 243 (Not sure the model.) eye relief is better (longer) than the used banner my friend has.

I would buy bushnell again. I got a good deal on a vortex viper so that sits on my 270 now.
 
As much as I'm a Leupold user, Bushnell has come a long way with their scopes and their warranty is great.

I have a brand new Elite listed in the EE that I got as a warranty replacement for an old 3200 I bought off the EE that turned out to be jiggled.

It never got opened because I had already bought another by the time it showed up.

I will look at trades as well.
 
Cheap scopes are not cheap in the long run. Better to buy a good scope the first time around instead of buying twice.

Save a few extra bucks and buy a decent used scope off the EE. You will be FAR better off!

If that Banner is an old one marked made in Japan and it has B L on the underside of the tube, buy it. It was made for Bushnell by Bausch & Lomb and it's well made with good glass.
 
The Bushnell trophy XLT 3-9x40 goes on sale for $99, haven't managed to break mine yet on my 270, plus is that it's covered by Bushnell's bulletproof guarantee and Bushnell is great with their warranties, no receipt or proof of purchase needed, no worries about grey market imports (Korth group wont warranty Leupold scopes that weren't imported by them, at least this was the case at some point don't know if they've changed, it's buyer beware with used scopes from EE because you may be getting a grey market one)
 
Spend more now and you will spend less later on. If going new look for the warranty as this goes a long ways if a future repair is required. I like the Nikon glass but tends to have a tad less eye relief that a few others in it's price range. Bushnell 3200 or 3500 is a good staring place on their scopes. Leupold VX I, II or III are decent with nice glass - good eye relief, light in weight - but may cost a shade more then others. Redfield Revolution is decent for the price. Burris has decent scopes for the cost. Vortex Diamondback is like Nikon where I find it has a tad less eye relief but decent clarity for the price. Sightron S1H has decent clarity at this end of their scope line. And there are others.
