Anyone see a problem with this? 3.440 length on 270win

The only problem I can see with the OP's question is that it is applied to a 270 in the first place.............:p:p;);)

I was waiting for you to show up with that... lol

I went with a 270 because I wanted something that will do anything I need it to (I can buy a bigger gun if I ever go Grizz or Bison hunting), being able to easily find factory ammo was important, and I already had a 303 so I didn't want another 30cal. (Plus, I think I have the same sort of irrational dislike for the 30-06 that you do for the 270 lol)

Went to the range yesterday, and the results are very promising.

With factory ammo, the best groups I could shoot with this rifle were over an inch, most around 1.5". I have changed stocks (factory black to factory camo stock) and bedded the new stock, in addition to the hand loads.

The groups were shooting high and to the right, so most of my 52gr loads weren't on paper, but I got three 3-shot groups of the 53gr on paper.

The group in the middle of the page was shot before adjusting my scope, the two bottom ones were shot after. The bottom left one obviously isn't very good, I didn't even measure it. I was shooting right beside a guy going to town with a revolver and I can be a bit flinchy. The other two groups measured under 0.6" though! I am very satisfied with my results so far!

So did you shoot any groups between the new stock and the new ammo? Curious to know which step made the biggest differ nice in accuracy.

How did you shoot those groups, by the way? Bags or vise? What rifle/scope? Any specific techniques (fouling, barrel warming?)

I did not test accuracy with just bedded stock or just hand loads. I wanted to, but that would have meant buying another box of 270 factory ammo.

Shots were fired from the bench, front rest was a 6x6 with a sand bag on top, rear bag was a sock full of sand I made myself. No special routine as far as heating/cooling/fouling goes. I shot 8 rounds of factory ammo (partly to foul the barrel, partly to familiarize myself with the rifle as i haven't shot it since November), put it down for a few minutes, then 9 rds reloads, put it down for a few, then 9 more reloads. I had my 22 with me so I shot that between volleys with the 270. Total time spent from the start to the finish (of shooting the 270) was a little under an hour.
