Glock 19 vs 17

I don't know why shooters look for comfortable grips. If I want to be comfortable, I slouch on my sofa.

17 or 19, they are both mild kicking 9mm. Why do we need a long grip that fills and even extends below many hands. The 19 grip is long enough. It is a mental thing that we think the gun will jump out of our hands like a slippery fish. I used to have a Colt Officer's Model 45acp that have an even shorter grip and it never ever had a tendency to leap out of my grip.

Mind you I only have medium sized and skinny hands, of average strength as well.

Anyways, I am glad some guys like the 17. Who else would buy my 17RTF when I decide to sell it to get a 19?:d:d::d

Actually, I may not even get a 19. The FNS9/40 fits me perfectly as it has the same grip angle and very similar control placements and feel as a customed 1911 with checkered front and back straps. Very reasonably priced specially new or slightly used from the EE. Perfect for me.

I think thats an awful analogy lol. If I could carry I'd have a G19 and much smaller for CC, but when i'm looking for a range shooter why would I not get the one that feels better in my hand?

im not gonna lie, i kinda want a Glock that dosnt have the finger groves on it.
really hoping they release the 17M and 19M to the public.

that or i could just send mine out to get shaved i guess.

i hate being told where to put my fingers!

does anyone know if the M series ones have ambi slide release????

get a Glock 19 Gen2. No finger grooves.

Glock pricing has just been slashed big time. Great time to buy. Wolverine and CSC has put out new price lists. $780 for a G17 gen 4 and G19 gen 3 for same price. It's about time. Glock have been way overpriced for a long time.

Because "feel" has nothing to do with performance.

I highly recommend the FNS, it gets carried daily. It is my favorite pistol I have ever owned. Well maybe my Glock 26 but they aren't really in the same class.

Oh hi TDC, its cool Glock feels good in my hand!

I've got a gen 4 17 and a gen 3 19.
I prefer the 19. No real reason, I seem to shoot it better and my times always seem to be faster.
Both shoot flawless. A few spring and connector change makes for a much improved trigger pull in both. Careful with lightening the striker spring as you'll get light strikes especially with CCI primers.

Incorrect! Looking at statistics and statcan for murders in 2015:
Canada - 1.68/100,000
Northwest Territories - 11.34/100,000

Chicago - 477/100,000
New York - 352/100,000
Baltimore - 344/100,000

We are still below the USA and other countries. Yes, the NWT is high, but that is also due to the low population rate compared to other provinces. Still it is no where's near the murder rate in the USA. Bringing up crime victims is totally insensitive as nobody can really speak for them or provide an assurance for what they have endured, all I was stating is that we are a much safer country, and I really feel we have no need to carry as we do not have the crime that others do. I am proud that I live in Canada, just because of that!

Your logic borders on idiotic. The NWT only had 3 murders in the year you quote. Extending those numbers out to represent 11 per 100,000 is nothing more than mathematics. Name me one US State that had only 3 murders in any year in the last decade.. Hell Chicago has more than that on any given week-end. The nonsense you put out to try to justify conceal carry is amusing. Kinda like the tweets The Donald puts out. The Self Defense Industry keeps Americans in the constant state of paranoia and good on them..just leave it there.

Stealing property on rural farms in the middle of the night in Saskatchewan is hardly the equivalent of open warfare in Chicago streets each week and the locals there can't convince their elected representatives to allow CCW. Here are the latest stats from the city that is listed at 24th in the US for violent crime. By the end of the month Chicago will have had more shooting deaths than Canada will have this year or any year in the last decade.

BTW it is not the government that denies you the right to carry in this country it is your fellow citizens.

One thing you can be sure of if the majority of Canadians wanted CCW and the right to defend property the Liberals would be all over it like flies on a week old hamburger. Canadians don't and no political party in this country will promote it with any enthusiasm until the majority of Canadians want CCW. Hell we are lucky the tide has turned on the anti-gun movement up here. The blew their wad on the long gun registry and nobody in English Canada wants to spend $2 Billion to set it up again.

Year to Date
Shot and Killed 118
Shot and wounded 523
Total Shot 641
Total Homicides 126

Last year 4,379 people were shot in Chicago alone. Nothing like living in a third world country!

Comparing country's statistics is useless. You have to compare cities, neighbourhoods not countries.

I can find a city in Colombia or Ecuador that is safer than Toronto's Yonge & Finch ghetto.

Country statistics are aggregates. We live in neighbourhoods, not countries. A country is an abstract concept.

There are safe and dangerous cities and neighbourhoods in every country around the world.

The US is very safe, you just have to use your head.

Exactly! That said I know folks in the US who live in neighbourhoods that are safe as church but would never consider going outside without being armed. Why? Some would say because they can. Most I know, feel there is a need when one could argue there isn't.

Your reference to Toronto's Yonge & Finch ghetto has to be taken into context. It certainly is not as dangerous as most of the neigbourhoods in Chicago. Toronto is the same size as Chicago and won't have as many shootings all year that Chicago racks up virtually every week. Chicago is ranked 24th in the list of most violent cities in the US. It is not an anomaly.

Take Care

I can recall looking at the reported firearms deaths for Canada (years ago) and discovering that the numbers were not really useful because over half the deaths were by suicide and by cops. I concluded that if I took those out of the mix, and then took out druggies hooting druggies, there was not much left that legislation could have much affect on.

Who is " CSC " ?

You clearly do not have a very good grasp of stastics. A per capita stat is the only way to compare uneven population sizes and even then it is flawed. It doesn't really matter if it is a smaller population if the trend for murders is constant your individual chance of being murdered is still just as high as a large population center with the same rate.

Also, you never responded to the fact your town has murders every year leaving it with a fairly high murder rate...
