Well, I have seen many scams, even on Amazon, after I got tired of Ebay. Here on CGN and other sites. I am very careful and I got screwed for $300 EMT. These scammers are scamming more end user customers then retailers. I will never send EMT again, it is ridiculous. The cops and bank will tell you do not send EMT to anyone except your family. It seams like money laundering operation. The banks know where the money goes, but wont tell you. It is just a friggen fraud. I only use Amex. I have NEVER had problems with them. So if the retailers don't take Amex, or (FRAUD ALERT), I do't buy. I work too hard for my money.

So the question for the retailers is: Have you ever got let down by AMEX?

Premium Elite Visas and Mastercards charge retailers premium rates equaling AMEX. I do not want to get in a p.....g match on here about credit card charges. I just want to know from the retailers if they got let down by Amex.

While the situation sucks for Phil, this is a risk he and others take when doing business. Phil's OP is a great way to inform the shooting public of these scopes being out there but the Lynch Mob mentality that has followed with the painting of Quebecers with the wide brush of criminal element and indictment of "a guy" on ebay selling what appears to be a different model and has positive feedback for the last 11 years of dealings makes this thread a bit difficult to stomach.
I hope the guy gets caught for Phil and so that this thread goes away.

I am wishing the exact same thing, justice and recovery of monetary loss for Phil, no shop should have to endure these business risks, there are enough other risks as it is.

As for the guy commenting about flying my province flag, it is no different than all the Ontario, BC, Alberta, Nova Scotia, etc... avatars i see around here.

Just following up on what Phil posted. Didn't notice the dyslexic error. Shouldn't have taken for granted the OP made an error.

Unless I missed something, this guy is selling a C545.................. the stolen scopes were a C554 and a C555.

I have just been advised by a CGN member that a similar scope #C545 ATACR has just been listed on Ebay from Quebec...be aware this might be ours (serial number has been blocked on the picture). Phil.

Scope in question with wrong Model# is "This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available."

Hopefully it wasn't a legitimate item that was mistakenly accused.

I agree those that advocate lynch mob mentality with anecdote stories are NOT helping.
The specific and measurable facts from retailers stating majority of scams are from Quebec, won't sell to Quebec cause risk is too high, are legitimate and helpful.

As for Guy selling on ebay already covered the model# issue. I provided the member since date and FB along with pic. Yes it is suspicious given the amount of fraud on ebay. Yup, difficult to stomach when one provides info, get nothing back but criticism but that won't deter those of us that continues to provide facts, like that auction is now ended.

Maybe you guys trying to "help out" should leave it to the authorities and experts. As for anecdotes, you guys screwed up the model number, made the presumption that because the scope was sent to a city and the eBay scope is being sold from a nearby city that "it must be him" and the whole you don't know what is in the box argument...I won't even get into the Quebec thing.

This is the whole reason we have due process, so that 5 assumptions don't give a guy a life sentence.

Stick to watching CSI re-runs and leave the real work to the authorities.

Anyone that has dealt with eBay knows there is LOTS of fraud. I’ve had several this year requiring chargeback; Yes, some from Canada.
eBay sellers are anonymous, so even if I had the seller’s personal info I would NOT disclose it due to privacy. Only access to ebay seller is through eBay.
An eBay seller is akin to a business subject to scrutiny. Want privacy, don’t SELL. Can’t have it both ways, can’t open your door to business yet want complete privacy unless you are a scammer.

PS: In case anyone has any personal info please do NOT disclose/post it; that would be a breach of privacy.

Sorry that some of these posts have developed into Quebec bashing...that is not my intent (I have French Canadian heritage) . Thanks to all those who have PM'd me. I am fairly certain that this is one of the scopes in question but I will not reveal all I know at this time. Anyone with any info is welcome to PM or email us. I am not giving up no matter how long this takes. Nightforce has been advised of the serial numbers involved. To be honest my main reason for posting this thread was to warn CGN members about getting scammed on these scopes. Thanks for the help...that was a bonus. Phil.

Stay vigilant on all your internet/online purchases. Lots of scams out there; eBay has a lot of scams.

The Quebec bashing must stop. All indications are there is one area, Laval, that is the trouble spot. Please don't drag the rest of Quebec into it. I for one will continue to recommend great sponsors like Rene's store in Quebec for reloading supplies.

If anyone feels the info I've provided is not simple facts I'll be more than happy to delete them.

Should have bait the seller to meet face to face and catch the bastard....Now u have an eBay acct but it can be easily claimed to be hacked.

Not without an warrant.... doubt any cop or judge will go through that trouble for this.
