So the new 1x8 strike eagle will be here in May-June for under $700, thinking it would be a good replacement for my Eotech setup that doesn't work well at 100 yards on my X95.
Not a fan of the original reticle but the new one is supposed to be slightly different. What do you guys think?

No the rifle works great, the reticle on my Eotech is freaking huge. To big for any sort of proper placment at 100 yards. I gandered down to the shooting center today and compared my eotech to 6 other options and my reticle was twice the size of any other option. Great set up for close work but i want the option for both.

Well, if the glass is as blurry, and fish eyed as the original 1-6x was, i say keep your money.

On a serious note, a 1K ish budget will net you decent glass.

Edit: for sub 700.00 it might be worth the $$$. I see wolverine has a preorder special on them. Just because my experience was terrible, don't let that influence you.

I wish the AR world would get off the BDC reticle bandwagon. They rarely work perfectly for any round. When you start offering 8x magnification, it's going to appeal to a market wanting to shoot very short, and long ranges. But it becomes useless at long ranges unless your platform shoots the bullet at the exact muzzle velocity that the reticle was calibrated for.

Just make a mil based reticle and I'll be happy to give them my money.

Then look at the Trijicon 1-8x.

You do realize your Eotech has a 1MOA dot that's perfectly suitable for 100 yards shots right? You don't focus on the 68 MOA ring if you want to do these types of shots.

My SIGHTRON 1-7 is mil/mil. Works great. Killer glass and uncluttered view.

A few possibilities for Eotech reticle hugeness induced inaccuracy.

Btw what MOA results were you getting?

  • astigmatism
  • brightness set too high
  • fake Eotech
  • shooter error
  • you alternated rapidly between arctic and tropical temperatures, encountering the infamous Eotech thermal shift
  • delamination
  • some other unknown shooting factors?

In any event, Eotech global refund in effect.

This ^^^
There really shouldn't be any issues hitting steel at 100 yards on a Tavor with an Eotech using the 1MOA dot. With a 3x flip magnifier it's even easier.

Unless for some reason you're focusing on the big Red ring and not focusing on the dot?
I actually love having both the big ring for cqb and the dot for distance.

Then look at the Trijicon 1-8x.
That's a big price difference. If I'm getting a Trijicon, I'll wait for them to release the 1-8x Accupoint. My 1-6x accupoint was the best all around scope I've owned. The fibre optic really ensured a true daylight BRIGHT dot in the brightest conditions. Even better than the aimpoints and eotechs I've owned. I regret selling it.

My point is that it can't be so much more difficult to make a mil reticle. My MWS is lonely.

To the OP, does your reticle look anything like this?

I know you guys are genuinely curious what dot I am looking at but seriously I'm not a tard fart lol.
We compared it to several including Swarovski, Trijicon but the dot is twice the size of any we looked at. Even the guy behind the counter was surprised and said it looked more like a 4 MOA dot.
Anywho I will throw it back on my M4 and use it for close in only.

So what do you guys think of the new Strike Eagle? Will it give the best bang for buck at $659? I'm going to check Cabela's tomorrow to look at the 1x6 option and see what my eye's think of the glass.

Turn the brightness down as much as you can. I can stack rounds on top of each other on a rack grade C8 with a eotech.

I have owned 4 different models of Eotech, the items I listed were real possible issues and not purely as jokes. I have encountered all of them, many people do not even know the 6th item (delamination) can happen with relatively new units.

And yes it can be very accurate comparing to other red dots due to the 1 MOA dot, obiously more fine than my 2 MOA Aimpoint.
But if printing MOA groups at over 100 on a bench is the intended application, any red-dot is not the ideal tool, neither is the x95.

I can't confirm if its true but Ive heard many times that the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x was made on the same production line as the Primary Arms 1-6X

If this is true it would be fair to assume that the new Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x will be very similar to the Primary Arms 1-8x

I have the PA and it seems like a good scope for the cash, although I`d love to compare it to a Trijicon or Primary Arms Platinum just to see how much better they are as I`m in the market for another
