DPMS g2

But nothing is quite available yet. So a g2 stripped upper paperweight. Charging handle is proprietary and so is the BCG. Only thing that is compatible to an ar15 is trigger, gas block and handguard.

Head on over to the big AR forum in the US. You will see quite a few people are still complaining about parts availability.

Go for the GII Recon. Get a MI GII specific handguard at the same time. Loses half a pound and doesn't suck like the stock one.

Bought mine at SFRC but they are out. Irunguns is your best option right now.

We carry the G2 stripped upper so you can start a build from it.

Why does your site say 6066 extruded? That's the spec for the old LR308. The GII is forged 7075. Might be worth verifying.

Also like sky52 said, only useful with the other parts due to lack of compatibility. I hope this means you will get more GII compatible parts in for builds.

Thats what I got, I got a used one with the MI handguard already installed on it. It was SPF but it had been SPF for 2 weeks, so I convinced the seller to stop waiting for his money and take my money right away.

This.....and when you change the handguards, you gotta pull that damn AAC flash hider to pull the gas assembly. DPMS rockset's the flash hider, and you have to soak it in water over night to loosen it.....heat doesn't do it.

Wolverine has the MI G2 handguards in stock.

I saw that one in the EE. Looked like a decent deal and ready to go right away. Congratulations.

Thats what i am doing now. Selling my my gen1 aero m5 and getting a g2 recon. It just make sense, still a 308 but 100 lbs lighter than the gen1. Plus i can use any ar15 hanguards.

Check compatibility on the handguards. Not all work with the GII as was initially advertised.

Yes. I noticed. But i am gonna be running either a samson or troy which clamps to the a stock GI nut so it should be ok. Any other one that uses proprietary nut is a crap shoot.

Funny, I was going to mention that ad until I noticed it was SPF.

I want to take a recon and turn the barrel down and add an A2 FSB at the rifle position. G2 Dissy anyone?

Tks. Still wsiti g for transfer to finish. I know you know your stuff, whatt has been your best commercially available ammo in this gun?

I bought 100 Hornady steel match and a 500 of Aguila for plinking, 308 is expensive if you could suggest a type I'd appreciate it.

I've only tested mine for function. I used some reloaded 168 ammo and a M21 red dot sight. It still had the factory handguard on it so I was waiting until that was changed. I have a 3-9x Burris E1 on it right now. I'll be shooting it for groups this summer and then as a carbine. I'll be trying some of the 155 steel match, 168 Federal Gold , 175 SMK and 167 Lapua ammo for accuracy. Then I'll be finding a lighter cheaper round for some carbine practice in 308. Too many projects on the go lately and the GII ended up being neglected.

ntm has a bunch of reloads if you look at his GII posts. Including some lighter rounds which would be good for more CQB style. I would highly recommend researching ntm's posts with regards to the GII.

One thing I will recommend, especially if you want to use the GII as a carbine, is to get a Badger Ordnance tactical latch for the charging handle. They aren't expensive, take a few minutes to change and work very well. Plus the charging handle on the GII is inbetween the AR15 and AR10 in length. So there aren't any options available. I use these on C8IUR carbines as well and they work great.

I'm guessing you picked up the Aguila ammo on sale at reliable? I split a case of 500 of the American eagle 150 that they had on sale a ways back. So I have 250 rounds of that ammo for plinking/CQB.

Yep i got the Aguila at reliable, I wanted to get more since im never that comfortable being under 2000 rounds of ammo for a semi, but since its my first xperience with that ammo I stuck with 500 only and got a couple of boxes of steel match instead. Blonde guy at the counter, I always forget his name, says Aguila is good ammo, but then which retailer would say anything bad about what they carry on stock.

Ill try to pick up some of that federal gold and that lapua, 175 smk might be a tad too heavy in weight and my scope sight in would be constantly messed up between plinking and accuracy shooting.
