16 gauge has been in decline longer than the 55 years I have been shooting. Excluded from Skeet and chambered in a lot of obsolete guns.
Many who shoot 16 gauge are reloaders due to lack of choice in ammo, and high prices.
That is interesting since I am seeing more 16ga now being used again since I have probally seen in the 60's and more and more being offered
Many guys took advantage of when remington reintroduced the 16ga in 870 and 1100 in 2001 with choke tubes a couple of year ago and there is quite a few new BPS out there now and some new browning O/U and ithaca has a new model 37 in 16ga
Plus browning just released a new 16ga A5 in 2016 the first one with a back bored barrel
If anything it is making a small come back
Agree reloading is the way to go but good hulls are hard to find but if one keeps his ear to the ground they will poop up also
I just bought in fact 1000 new activ with 2000 activ wads which I never thought I would see again in my lifetime since they have not been around since I would say 1990
Wads are easy claybuster makes the win aa 16ga clone and hummason stocks them
Cheers
Oh yes can I please have these so called obsolete 16ga guns. I don't know of any

My first new shotgun in 1965 was a 16ga wingmaster and I still have it today and it works like it always has plus another 12 or 15 more in 16ga
Those who shoot them still have quite a few that are used on a regular basis
Only thing sweeter than finding a bin of 2000 original 16ga wads is finding out he also has 1000 new 16ga hulls to go with them.
