PM II on a Tikka T3x CTR - is this a crazy idea?

Sponsorship was not a factor in 2012. From the 2015 blog you can see S&B had 44% top shooter but "Another factor could be that S&B does virtually no advertising, marketing, or sponsorships."

But since PRS only launched in 2011?

I’m left wondering how many of top shooters simply run that equipment due to their sponsorship with that particular brand?

Where did you get the TT is $1k more than S&B?

Wolverine has the S&B for $3380, Razor II are $3500+, TT ~$6.2k so a TT for $1k more than S&B is scam alert.

Shock to find S&B is cheapest of the bunch for basic 5-25x scope.
The S&B I was looking at was $4100 and at the time of introduction the Tangent Theta was $5300.

The reason is quite simple really... The S&B scopes used to run just under $3000 in March 2012 as example (when I bought mine). At the time, the CA$ to Euro was CA$1.35/EUR1 and the CA$ to US$ was exactly CA$1/US$1. Today, 5 years later, the CA$ to Euro is CA$1.44/EUR1 and CA$1.34/US$1.

So our Dollar has weakened only 6% to the Euro but 34% to the US$. The Vortex GenII sells for US$2400 in the states, so if our Dollar weakened only 6% to US$, the Gen II would most probably have been only CA$2550 or CA$2600 - inflation not included in any of the calcs. It's our dollar's 34% weakening against US$ that is killing us on all US sourced products - the Canadian to Euro has stayed fairly stable over 5 years, because the EURO also took a hammering against US$.

That is not correct. The winner of MLRSC is sponsored by S&B. Several shooters I know have S&B as one of their scope sponsor options. Very few shooters get a free scope, it is usually a discount and good shooters will get the option from several sponsors. Several shooters I shot with at the finale told me their team shooters can get a discounted scope from S&B, Nightforce, Kahles or Vortex. Their choice which one they want to use.

Looking for input from the audience on whether a Schmidt & Bender PMII sitting on a Tikka CTR is the height of lunacy on my part. I'm looking at 5—25x56 or 3—20x50 versions of the PMII.

My area of concern is height over bore and being able to get a decent cheek weld, as I know these scopes are typically found on chassis based systems.

Welcome your thoughts / input.

Go for it ! You will only have to upgrade the rifle afterwards
