Question

I have a Chinese civilian SKS , from the sticky the triangle code it is 0405 ??

It is all matching numbers but on the side of the receiver it is stamped " SKS 7.62X39 Norinco poly USA ATL CA.

There are 3 Chinese letters after the triangle then further over is the serial number starting with 230 ###XX the a H past the end of the serial number and slightly above .

all the rest of the serial numbers are the same as the last 5 numbers found on the side of the receiver after the 230 .

The trigger guard is machined not stamped metal , spike bayo and has a green sling with leather ends that hold the clips .

Can any one give any info on this rifle , many thanks !

Thank you Zuke .

To me it looks in very good condition ..... I wonder what year it was made ..........

It was a US import, likely in the early to mid 90s given the history of that importer (Poly USA Inc. out of Atlanta, Georgia) and the 23 million serial number puts it at 78 as year of production. Likely came to Canada before ITAR became thing and not one that got turned away with the ban as import marks are made after they landed, not before they clear customs.

And no I don't mean it's a 79. I'm using the "SKS files" website research for dating.

The H is not yet understood. Some factories had letters after the serial numbers but no patterns or reasons have been established yet.

The bolt and bolt carrier have the same serial numbers

The trigger guard is all machined steel as well as the receiver

The barrel to receiver seems to be a later version if I read the sticky correctly .
