Nea 102

I know Dave very well and he's a great guy. Many of the vz58 after market parts you see in Canada were originally designed by him.

Sure. He might be a great guy but it's because of his condescending attitude and total mockery of potential customers that I haven't touched a single NEA product to date. I think he did more to harm NEAs image than their crap quality control.

Dave is an awesome guy who deals with everything like the doorkicker he is. If you want subtle, he is not your man. If you want a guy who got a migraine while on patrol in the sandbox and was concerned about its effects on his performance so he dealt with it by taking one of his fingers and folding it sideways until it broke, thereby taking advantage of his brain's pain-gating response and keeping him on task, yeah, he's your guy. If he doesn't make nice with everyone on the internet, well, there's plenty of reasons he probably doesn't feel inclined to sand off all his rough edges.

Not a stellar performer? I would say it depends what you ask him to do. He's a very capable individual.

Broke his finger to self medicate a migraine with natural dopamine......

No wonder people seek safe spaces around a guy like that. He is a walking trigger hahaha. Awesome.

So I was doing some looking in the FRT system about this because I was bored at work. All the actual Armalite entries are either full-auto, converted-auto, or restricted. I found out this is because even Armalite began making "AR-10s" that were just upscaled AR-15s as early as the 1960s, and they themselves never made a semi-auto AR-10. The only company that made semi-auto only AR-10s was a Dutch company with a contract from Armalite. They basically did all the work on the AR-10 to improve it and make it work, and Armalite completely ignored all of it. There is precisely one FRT entry in the AR-10 family that lists as non-restricted, it is the Armalite AR-102 Sporter by Artillerie-Inrichtingen, Zaandam, entry number 161646. Every single other entry is either converted auto, full auto, or restricted as an AR-15 variant.

This is probably the gun NEA is basing this gun on, and it's probably also why they chose the name they did. If that's the case, and it's for all intents and purposes the same as the old AR-102, then it should indeed be NR.

Look up AR-102 again. Typed just like that with the hyphen. Your frt Google fu was lacking.

The ar10klm is restricted due to barrel length along. The ar-102 is listed as non restricted. Same receivers though. Just different models.

You're right, I did neglect to mention the entry for the AR-10 KLM Contract that cross-references from the AR-102 Sporter entry, which is indeed only restricted due to barrel length. Just for the sake of it, the AR-10 KLM Contract FRT entry is 161652, and it is indeed only restricted due to having a barrel length of less than 18.5". The way to tell is every other restricted AR-10 variant has a note in the "additional notes" section stating the AR-15 restriction as justification, this entry does not, thus it's only restricted based on barrel length.

Once again, I don't know the guy. My comments are/were directed to an individual who represented NEA online here at CGN and elsewhere. His background is irrelevant. When he represented NEA he was a total douchebag online.

Rough around the edges? Sure, and I have no issues with that. Plenty of people don't like my personality either but I don't work in PR representing a company. You don't hear Larry Vickers or Kyle Lambe talking down to people because they have an issue with their product.

Since they're no longer an official sponsor it's hard for me to find examples of what I'm talking about but I'm sure some people recall.

Anyway, let the love fest resume...

Capable all you want, sounds like a guy who doesn't think things through.

Keeping the hope alive, on FB there is some new information:

Cool. When are we getting the 102.

...

102 is dead.

everyone keeps saying that... where was the announcement? When did NEA say that? Why would it be dead? I'm actually confused.

North Eastern Arms The 102 is not dead, the Rcmp has 6 months from the time we filed to give us a classification. We already have the frt that lists the 102 as a variant of the already non restricted armalite ar102.

...

North Eastern Arms No one is more disappointed than us

When did you file? Have they gone over the 6 months?

North Eastern Arms Dec 2016

So, there should be a decision announced by July at the latest.

Neit arms right? I think I met him once at the range good pistol shooter IIRC. Running a tanned/FDE 1911 maybe at that time?

Should've made more specialized parts.

Yup, Neit Arms. I built some parts for him back in the day when I was machining full time. Never had any issues dealing with him.

Where does it say anywhere that the rcmp have a 6 month deadline to give a decision on anything?
