Great deal, over two tons of lead for only $600. Check online for the price of scrap metal (lead) per pound then call me!
Comes as the keel of a 32 foot fibreglass sailboat. MUST TAKE WHOLE BOAT

Oh, it's sailboat lead.

From the title and the Ontario location, I wondered if was surplus ballast used to keep snoozing senators from falling over onto the floor of the senate.

With the environmental issues with lead why is anyone still using this stuff. Oh ya to cheap

Too bad it's too far away for me.

There are not many people willing or capable of taking the whole boat so you can probably get it for next to nothing.
Boat scrappers are not paying $600 to haul it away for sure.

I bet the harbour / yard won't let you cut up the boat onsite so if you don't have a trailer it probably won't fly.

I've now seen the add and the guy is deluding himself. To get that boat a specialized trailer is needed. Also a crane. Then because is an oversize load special permits are required to be transported on public roads. Then unloading needs also a crane. Then cutting the thing up and so and so.
I think he will end up paying way more than 600$ to have that thing removed from that location.
Just to pay a crane cost 500$/hour.
If he suggested to check the price for scrap metal is obvious he already tried all the scrap yards in the area and they all told him the truth. Just like the guys from Windsor who were trying to get rid of thousands of lbs of linotype. They called every scrap yard in their area and when they found the price they buy it for they posted the add on kijiji hoping for someone like us to come and buy.

There are extremely limited environmental issues with lead ore or lead alloys

There are some concerns about the 20 million tonnes of tetra ethyl lead that came out of internal combustion engines every year for over 50 years in the U.S. and Canada.
Tetra ethyl lead is organically active, gets into the food chain and is passed up to the top of the food chain.

The concern about lead alloys is from folks that do not understand basic chemistry, and have found away to earn a good living while vilifying a rather benign metal.
Gasoline is far more dangerous than lead alloys.
The Lead Free movement has garnered a lot of money for those who back it. Especially those who sell products that replace lead.
Follow the dollar.

A few years ago we paid 150$ to dispose of a 300 pounds lead counterweight.

That's funny, not only should we have been paid 150$ to sell it, but I should have kept it instead. I wasn't into bullet casting at that time so I had no clue.
