I recently got a long rifle m95, with a broken firing pin (would very lightly dent primers, came out in 2 pieces when I took the bolt apart). I bought 2 replacements from Marstar and I'm guessing they are just too short? When I drop one into the back of the bolt face the pin is flush with the surface, so I don't see any possible way it would impact a primer.

I took a look inside and there doesn't appear to be any gunk blocking the firing pin, and I can't force it any more through the hole. Anyone else experience this? I measured from the bottom of the ring to the tip of the firing pin and it is 0.715 inches, which from what I read here (http://www.surplusrifleforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=118063&view=previous) is too short by 0.04-0.06 inches.

Anyone else experience this and/or know anywhere else I can get a longer length firing pin (marstar is out)?

Things I checked: the ring near the tip of the firing pin is definitely touching the inside of the bolt face, and the firing pin tip itself easily passes through the front of the bolt face.

when your bolt is at the unkocked position the firing pin should protrude from the face of the bolt about 65 thousands of an inch

Indeed, the problem was the pin part itself is too short. If you look at the pin, the disk near the tip contacts the rear of the bolt head, stopping forward travel. We ground off some metal from the front of the spring retainer ring, and this gave enough firing pin protrusion to work (tried it tonight).

Our theory is these firing pins were already worn parts that were replaced, thankfully they can be easily be modified to let the firing pin stick out more.

No, the ring on firing pin shaft does work as a stop to forward movement.
If the length of the part in front of the ring is too short, the tip will not protrude past the bolt face.
Both of the pins he bought were just flush with the bolt face or slightly below flush.

Ross rifle firing pin is this picture is same design with slightly thicker shaft and without a flat surface on the shaft.
