I'm new to enfields so maybe someone here will know forsure. The one I'm purchasing is advertised as a no4mk2 but I thought from my limited research that they would have the micrometer rear sight. This on has the battle sight it seems. Its in full military configuration and the price is high so I want to be as sure as I can be before forkin over the cash. So what sight should it have?

Normal, maybe not but common for sure to see different sights. You can always buy another sight if the rifle is otherwise good, as far as I know it's not a serial numbered part.

Interesting. I don't suppose you have any pictures available?
I read about the POF #4 Enfields. Apparently Pakistan bought the machines and tooling after the war

One pic the dealer had up and one of the receiver markings. it's hard buying these without being able to handle them first but I figured what the hell.

From my research P.O.F is Pakistan Ordnance Factory as "tiriaq" mentioned. Also the C ahead of serial number says the same. Still learning though so I may be wrong.

I have a 1961 POF, the hardest part was finding a 1961 POF blade bayonet for it. Ended up paying 75$ for one...lol...

Paid 399 at Epps a couple of years back. But having a enfield made in Pakistan is pretty cool in my books.

I have one another CGN'r sold me. Nice old rifle. Looked for one for years, then bought this one. Checked one a friend gave me 25 or 30 years ago with no bolt and, lo and behold, it was a POF! Got a bolt for it, put on a no gunsmithing scope mount on and a nice old steel Weaver, and now have a full wood "sniper". Both rifles are special to me. :)

POF Pakistan Ordnance Factory No.4 MK2 dated 1958 and it should have a POF marked Singer MKI rear sight. I sold about 50 of those a few years back.

Awesome thanks guys. I'm gonna keep an eye out for a mark 1 rear sight. Never heard of the Singer variant but if anybody has a lead on one pls pm me.

Edit: Found a sight....thankyou!

Yep, POF rifles had POF-made Mk1 sights originally. Nice rifles with nicely stocked wood. I retired a POF bolt once that had a deforming recoil lug due to improper heat treating, but I think it was confined to that one bolt. Generally these are nice rifles.

I had heard that all the POF rifles we have are ex-indian, having been captured in the various indo-pakistan skirmishes. Can't say for sure that its true though.

Always wanted a No4Mk2 variant and after researching these POF no4's im really happy I scooped this one up. Seems to be some hidden perks with these with a splash of uniqueness lol. Thanks !

Someone more knowledgeable can correct me but I believe that is an Irish contract rifle, built in England, not Pakistan.

P.O.F. is Pakistan Ordnance Factory, so it wasn't built in England. R.O.F. Fazackerley made the No.4Mk.2s on new machinery installed post-WWII and the "Irish Contract" were among the last ones they made before winding up production of the Lee Enfields which were being replaced in service with the license built FN FALs. The new machinery and all tooling was sold to P.O.F. which continued to make No.4Mk.2s for their own forces. ("After the war" as kawicrash said in post #7, the late 1950s were certainly after WWII.)
