Which would you pick?

I having shooting rifles for years now and I thinking I want to branch out in the restricted field. I am torn on what is the better choice to make in getting a pistol for mostly informal target shooting/ screwing around and maybe step into IPSC. I will not be getting into the open class at all. I am not against some modifications but open class is dumb to me.

I have narrowed things down a bit. Price is the main factor.

Used:
Walther PPX
Sig 250
Police trade in Glock
Norinco NP29
FMK 9

New:
Zastava M70a (a tokarev clone in 9mm)
Hi-Point
Norinco NP29

Looking for your input from experience to cross things off the list or add it to the short list. I am also willing to hear suggestions in these price ranges
 
In your used list : none

in your new list : 1. Norinco. 2. Zastava M70A (which I have, really fun to shoot but not sure about IPSC)

maybe look at the Girsan, clone of 92fs

I'd stay away from the red highlighted items. You might get lucky with Norinco but if your not.....well!!! Stay away from Hi-Point
As far as IPSIC...dunno the rules of which gun you can or cannot be used.
But my choice would be Walther, Sig, Glock...not in any order.

tazik is right about the 92 clone or
The police trade in police Beretta 92S.
Check out Bullseye London, they go from $549.99 A grade and $599.99 A+ grade
You should look into the IWI Jericho 941 in 9mm for just under $700.00 for the all steel and $549.00 for the polymer....you cannot go wrong with that gun. Based on the CZ frame, it a beauty you won't regret.

Get the Glock, upgrade to Ghost EVO 3.5lbs connector, polish all the trigger parts to mirror finish. You'll not be disappointed.
 
I do not want a DA/SA gun. I know the beretta and Jericho are nice. I have shot them. I just don't like having two different trigger pulls on one gun. I have had training with the single action and striker action so its what I know

From your list, the Glock, from your preference for a single action striker fired I would add the Canik TP9sa, new or used, great gun for the money, there is a used one on the EE right now for $450, smoking deal, I would also add the FNS9ls, a used one should be in your price range, new around $650, also a great gun.

Beware of the folks who badmouth Norinco 1911s, like the model 29. It's usually because they've been outshot by one, using their high end weaponry.
 
I would say add the Norinco np 22 (sig226 copy) to your shortlist. Shot 1500 rounds thru mine without a single issue before giving it a clean, shoots pretty accurately, but it is DA SA trigger, but that being said the double action is just for if you don't want to #### the hammer. It is a safety thing on guns, while still being able to deploy quick

Also a really good choice, tons of support and I have seen them sell on the EE regularly in the $500 range used

I have shot the M&P a couple and have never been happy with. I know they are popular but I don't like it

The Canik is a well priced gun.
 
The Walther PPX is a nice gun. The only thing it doesn't have that Glock does is huge popularity, block feel (though they both look like a block) and crappy stacking trigger. The only dislike I have about the PPX over Glock is the grip is substantially further away from the center of bore than that of a Glock: Frankly, I can adapt either way. I have, and enjoy shooting both. Handle them both at a store and find what fits your hand better.

Some time ago I bought a slightly used Walther PPX range kit (had 100 shots through it) with three mags (Italian) from Tenda Canada for measly $400 (see pic). I never looked back. Excellent pistol. It is not striker fired but pre-cocked hammer with an excellent trigger pull within the range 4.1-5.5lbs (I measured it). It feels even lower than that. It has a bit higher bore axis than a few other composite frame pistols but that’s completely irrelevant during shooting. It fits my hand like a glove (I wear L size gloves). Very light recoil, very accurate at 20-25 yards. In essence it’s nearly on par with the Walther PPQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EbLTzLMMMM) that costs much more. If you get a bargain on the PPX range kit, get it. Highly recommended.

Hi-Points get a bad reputation because they're ugly, unwieldy, and popular with criminals, but if you want a cheap and reliable gun, they're not bad. I think they're a company worth supporting because their guns come with a lifetime warranty and are made in the States with recycled materials and use local manufacturing. They also have a solid philosophy of "anyone should be able to own firearms regardless of economic status"
