Hey all, sorry if this has been discussed already, but I'm trying to find a long range optic with mil turrets and retical, but I dunno if its just me, but we have an excruciatingly low number of optics to choose from. Was considering importing the SWFA SS but dont have a licence.

So my question is, is there any affordable long range optics choices for us Canadians? Really appreciate any responses

What is affordable to you ? We have almost as many choices in Canada as there are in the US. My most used rifles wear reasonably high end ( which to me means :S+B, NF ATACR, Razor II etc ) glass but I recently ( as in yesterday ) bought two of the new Bushnell Tactical DMR II 3.5-21x50 scopes and they are a very good value - 34mm, zero stop, and nice turrets and while not as good optically as the top-tier, the glass is still good ( on a par with the NF NXS). G3 reticle is good and I didn't find it too thick during this mornings shoot at 350m.

Maybe this will work ?

You can apparently get the SWFA scopes up here now.
A mil/mil SS scope from them might fit your budget.

Hey thanks for the response. Affordable for me is around 300-800 bucks. (800 would require a couple paychecks saved beforehand).

Those bushnells look pretty good, (very nice rifles by the way) are they new for 2017? Might have to check bushnells website out. How much did those run you anyways?

Well, I guess they are outside the budget you wanted to set aside for glass but I always recommend spending the money on good scopes - only rich people can afford poor optics ( you always have to buy again, again and again etc and so, in the long-run, you spend more. ). For these Bushnell's you won't see much change out of $2K each but think of it this way those two cost a lot less than the NF ATACR picture on another one of my rifles below and you could almost buy two for the price of the Razor in the background so all this stuff is quite relative I guess :)

Tomochan is the man when it comes to high end glass, i chose to go with sightron first a 8-32x56 and now a 10-50x60 i was happy with the previous until i looked through a 10-50 i wont always be able to use the 50x but i like the option of having it also the price is better as well i know you said 800 but like tomochan said save up for what you really want and be happy the first time.

Not to hijack the thread but does anyone know where and from who we could get SWFA products from?

Thanks

Actually, I don't think there are SWFA dealers in Canada but I think you can now order direct from SWFA and they will ship into Canada. I haven't ordered from them but other people on here have and they got their scope sent up across the border with no problems.
The other route is to track one down on the EE as they show up for sale on there from time to time.

What make of scope cap is on the botton DMR's objective bell? Is that Vortex?

After some extra hours of looking around and seeing what's out there, i conclude you are correct sir. Guess I'll start saving now haha.

Buy once, cry once right?

Very nice rifles by the way!

A few extra hours of looking around has provided me the same answer. Though i dont think i ever came across sightron. Will have to check them out

I'm sure CGN would appreciate one of your write-ups on these new Bushnells. There doesn't seem to be much on them yet on the inter web and I have always enjoyed your reviews.

Many thanks Tikka and Falcon but sadly, CGN doesn't allow me to post a link to reviews I write and post to my website / Snipershide etc. etc. To reformat for CGN consumes time that I often don't have but I will see what I can do.

Nice to see more user feedback on these Bushnell. I recently picked up an LRHS 3.5-12 for my 223 and so far am quite impressed. The features they have put into this package make it a great value as far as I can see so far, excellent reticle, FFP, mil/mil it has everything I have paid much much more money for in other brands. And this coming from a non Bushnell fan to boot.

Looking for an honest opinion though.. What exactly fails on a Sub $1000 optic ? If ur putting it on say a .308 whats the justification for a $2000 piece of glass?
