Hey all, few questions .My bolt had what looked like a small crack in the extractor, so i had a new one and decided to swap it out without the special bolt tool, i did a garand bolt once fine . Well it came apart just fine but when trying to reassemble the extractor spring and plunger shot out and lost the plunger !! So i was wondering the best place to find that little plunger ? Also was wondering if there's anyone with a bolt tool i can send it to reassemble with a couple $20 bills of course . Not going to try it again myself loll. Thanks !

1. You can reassemble your bolt using a spent 30.06 casing placed in your M305 chamber. Search this forum for pictures.
2. You can also use a large C clamp as shown below in post 18. The assembly tool you speak of is very nice but not really required.
3. icanuck on this forum also shows how to assemble the bolt using your bare hands and a punch. (nice video)

As for a replacement plunger, put up a WTB in the EE. Surely there's someone out there that's swapped out their guts and has spare Norc parts.

I have several "small bolt parts".... Mostly Chinese. Some USGI, but they are 99% for USGI bolts currently in the "build box"...

I find the 30-06 case trick is great for disassembly but really only works for reassembly with USGI bolts or non-Chinese springs....

If you like I can send you a Chinese spring & plunger (you pay the postage); or if you want ship the bolt to me, I'll reassemble the darn thing for you. For a job like that there wouldn't be any charge except return shipping.

Now if you wanted to upgrade to USGI parts, I can do that too, but those parts ain't free!

I once had an M14 lover at (too old to remember) some clinic and he declared that he had to clean the bolt AFTER every range session with his M305.

I told him to use aerosol brake cleaner.... He said, "It costs money..." :(

Then I told him to boil water and dunk the bolt into the pot.... He said, "It will poison his bloodstream..."

I said, "You will just have your #### drop off..."

Then I said, "Dollarama has compressed air on sale..."

He said, "I don't buy from the Kommunizts..."

I then realized, he needed to buy a bolt disassembly tool from Brownells. I gave up... :nest:

Folks, I cannot remember that last time I took my bolts apart... Engine DeGunk or Aerosol Brake Cleaner works for me...

Peace be to journey....

Great info here guy's. I won't be touching my Norinco bolts. Rinse and flush in gas/diesel for them..
I only took my USGI apart for the donor receiver check.

lol!

I take apart every single bolt I get my grubby little hands on! I haven't lost a spring or a plunger in quite some time! I have broken the odd extractor plunger however.....

But once a rifle is built and assembled..... it doesn't come me apart for "maintenance".....
