Where would I find one? Who carries them?

I like the Triple K with the mag pouch but I can't find them for sale anywhere in Canada.

If your Mk III has one of the shorter barrels and you are simply looking for a place to park the gun on your hip while at the range then consider an Uncle Mike's #16 or #18. The #18 is a touch larger and holds the gun more loosely but it still works well and it has a mag pouch on it.

As a way to hold my guns on my hip the Uncle Mikes holsters are cheap but surprisingly good at this job and well made. I would not want to use it for competitions where you draw under the clock. It's not positive and steady holding enough for that sort of work. But as a place to park it and carry it on your walks to the target and back it's a grand bit of kit.

Best of all it's more or less universal. I've used mine to carry everything from a small rimfire pistol on up to a 1911 and my Shadow. It takes any and all of these and holds them in fine style. Your Ruger is roughly in the middle.

If your Ruger has one of the longer barrels then look at their listings for a similar holster that is a bit longer.

If you find one, let me know. I have seen them on the US Cabela's site, but the exchange rate and shipping don't make for a bargain.

Thanks BC. I'll probably go that way for now until I can find that Triple K. I've got a 1911 as well so a more universal holster is likely what I'll get. I do have the 6 1/2" barrel on my ruger.

I use one of the Mike's holsters, don't know which model, but the end is open. Which means my Ruger will fit in (with the barrel protruding) as well as my TT33, and my Shadow.

I worry about the fibre optic front sight on the Shadow, but so far so good.

I did tighten up the fit somewhat with a stitch or two of fishing line along the bottom.

You could always send it to Solely Canadian and get a custom kydex holster made. Their website will give you the approximate time frame you are looking at. Also if they already have the mold you shouldn't have to send your gun, just look at the list on the website.
