I was looking at a Martini Henry rifle at a gun show last week. I was interested in acquiring one of these historic rifles, but
I need to know if there is ammo commercially available.
I'm not into reloading and wouldn't bother with it just for this one gun.
thx

To the best of my knowledge, the only available ammo is antique stuff and consequently expensive and may or may not go "bang" when you pull the trigger. Kynoch made commercial ammo with reloadable brass many many years ago and I think that was the last factory ammo made.

easy fix, reload for everything you have :)

That is how it starts.

You get an odd rifle and you want to reload for it and the next thing you know you bought a bunch more weird rifles and you are dumpster diving for 30-06 brass as well, ha ha.

Nothing better than rolling your own, lots of Martini Henry reloaders online, really cool to see guys making original paper patched rounds and even the packaging.

45-70

I think I'll stick with the 45-70: Cabelas stocks it, and there are many interesting rifles available that are chambered for it.
I found myself watching "ZULU" (again!), so I wanted to see about the practicality of having a Martini-Henry to shoot on sunny Sundays--but, "Meh" that's way more commitment than I'm willing to make for that rifle at this time.
I'd rather be spending my precious time shooting the 45-70 than scrounging for brass raries.
thx for the info.
