Buying a "gift" rifle

If you were to receive a new Winchester M70 Supergrade as a "milestone" gift from someone, would you prefer it in:

270 win or 7mm-08

Use would likely be as a range shooter and deer hunting only.
My gut feeling is to go with the 7mm-08, but the 270 seems more traditional in the M70.

Between the 2 choices I'd take the .270 suits how I would hunt better I've never been a 7mm-08 fan no real reason why I'm just not.

It depends on the person. Without knowing anything about the person, I would say if they reload or buys factory ammo for less common, more expensive calibers, then go for the 7mm-08. Otherwise, go with the 270. 7mm08 ammo isn't as cheap or widely available as 270 or the 30cals.

which cal can you get lower cost ammo for ?
