DA50 Shorties.. What barrel length?!

Even shorter! A 16" or even 12.5" would be an awesome little range toy. Likely useless for what a .50BMG is capable of, but a super short Boomstick like that would be crazy fun at the range.

a 50bmg in short barrel.. WTF are you people smoking??? seriously... that's as good as a 40cal hi point.... complete waste of resources that could be used to make useful 28 or 32 inch rifles...

CanAm you guys are great but some of these people requesting short barreled 50bmgs are borderline :onCrack:

Sometimes its just about having some ridiculous fun with a massive cartridge in a short barrel. Same reason people like the BFR .45-70 revolver. I would buy a 12.5" DA-50 the day they were available just for ####s. With a red dot you could probably have no problem ringing steel at 100 yards, and set fire to the targets at 50! :p

I would ask non-refundable preorders on those short barrels .50. It'll make a lot of noise and a big flash, but they won't exactly be precision rifles, and they'll still be quite heavy to carry. I think you'll be stuck with anything not accounted for when production is started.

I'll gladly pay in full up front for a 12.5"

Yeah, but that's for SF guys when they have to jump out of an airplane. They're sacrificing capability for portability. I don't really see the point in getting anything under 26", (especially 12" !), but to each their own...

I agree. It would be pretty much useless from a capability of the cartridge standpoint. I just want something that is going to make a huge blast and throw a big ol' flame out the business end. It would be worth it just for the novelty of something so ridiculous.

Oh damn, well this just made my mind up I think. I think RN has a 16" that still functions decent enough. I'd say 16" maximum
So it's actually worth having vs being able to do it yourself on one of the longer ones.

18" seems kinda cool. I wouldn't trade mine for it but I would give it a whirl. Anything shorter kind of seems pointless.
