Thinking About a 10/22?

The 10/22 is a great rifle. But it was even greater when you were allowed 110 round GSG mags and 25 round mags. Now that the rcmp has fuocked that up, I would be looking for another platform. The PPSH22s are able to use, at least for now, a 60 round drum. And they are great rifles as well. It all depends on what you want.

I wouldn't invest your money in these high capacity mags until we can wrest the power to arbitrarily ban mags and firearms from the Royal Canadian Mounted goon squad.

The 10-22 is a good 22 semi auto, that rotary magazine is a winner, also there are a lot of goodies available for them. Mine is the deluxe model so I don't see any need to tinker with it except for the scope. I have several other semi auto 22 rifles, a Marlin Model 60 which I've found to be more accurate than the 10-22, but the Marlin needed "breaking in". I also have an old Stevens/Springfield rifle I inherited from my grandfather and a Remington Nylon 66 that came from my father.

I do like Ruger's 10-22, but I tend to take the Marlin out more. I like its 14 round tube over the 10-22's 10 shot mag.

I have a 10/22 in SS. I really like the Marlin Model 60 but didn't get one. It makes me nervous about sticking my hand in front of the muzzle. I only have had my PAL for about 2 weeks though. That's my only gripe with it.

Had one pre internet and could not get used to the stock trigger.

After reading about Kidd triggers, I bought another a few years ago and installed a Kidd trigger. I run a Holosun red dot and it does very well with Federal Champions.

Cabelas has the synthetic stainless 10/22 on for $350 right now. I picked up a 50th Anniversary Contest Winner 10/22 when they were available, paid more than one should for a 10/22 but I liked that it came out of the box with the fancier stock and unnecessary muzzle break.

stainless is cool, but plastic stock flexes around action, better get in wood sporter and plastic stock can be had used cheaply
dantesports had $417 on sale stainless in sporter stock, bedding and trigger job should be next

Get the cheapest one you can find (not that RIA clone stuff). The customization bug will hit you hard. Just get one and have fun!

Do you remember what the E in "PROVE" stands for?
Acts and prove, load up and blast away. Op, love my 10/22, with the hougue stock, some trigger upgrades and tech sights it's one of my favorites.
