I currently own a 17, but I sold my G22, because I'm looking to get away from .40. I'm planning to replace it with another Glock. I'm essentially deciding between a 19, 34, 41, and to a lesser extent 21 (gen 4). At any given time of day I've made a decision, then I'll say "but maybe..." and be onto one of the others. Eventually I'll probably get all 3, but for the time being it's one at a time. Any opinions welcome.

I love this question. So nice to know I'm not alone with these existential dilemmas...

- G17 was the first firearm I bought.
- I see G19 as handy.
- I like the concept of the G41.
- I luuuv the G21.

If I had a million dollars ...

I have a love hate relationship with Glock, I sold what I had but I'm looking to buy again myself. The main reason being parts and accessory availability compared to just about anything and everything else. I don't think you can really go wrong with the 19 or another 17, and I'm torn on that decision myself. I'll probably end up with another 17, I've come to find full size guns just shoot better for me, and are preferred. Good luck wherever you land!

Honestly, your G17 can do everything you need and want out of a Glock. You should have sold the G17 and kept the 22 with a 9mm conversion barrel. That would have given you options.
There are more interesting platforms for .45 than a G21. And I'm personally not a fan of long nosed Glocks. The G19 would be my choice...but you already knew that!

i was in the same boat as you.
have had a 17 for years.
picked up a 19 in December...... LOVE THAT GUN!
im so ticked i waited to pick one up.
just everything about that gun is sooooooooooooo much better (for me) than the 17 is.
and it just as reliable as the 17.

i then went and got a G40 because i wanted a bigger hitting bigger glock.
and holy hell is the G40 all of that and more!

get the 19.
you'll love it.
than go G40 or G41, fun as oiled balls on a leather couch!
just gonna leave that thought in your head.

What are you using the New Glock for? If it's for the same reasons that the majority of us use our HGs for then get the 34 (if you really want another Glock). I've owned my 17 for years and its been great but I like variety.

I would have voted 19 but I'm not a fan of the look of extended Canadian barrel and the taller "suppressor" sights......

If for competition, the g34 is only effective in idpa. In ipsc it puts you in standard minor which is a disadvantage from the get go. I sold mine. I say g19 because the grip ergos are different from your g17. The g34 is the same as your g17 grip wise. So what's the point - outside of you just wanting to collect glocks? Also you can tell your friends the g19 is the "new" SEAL gun now. Lol.

It'll be primarily just for target shooting. It'll more than likely see some shooting games (IDPA/IPSC) but I'm not concerned enough about winning to have it sway a purchasing decision. Regarding my 17, as a general rule no gun I own is safe from the sale block. If I get a 34 and like it better than my 17, the 17 will likely be on its way out even though it's a really, really nice version. My safe is a revolving door in that way. If I don't shoot it, it's gone.

Welp, went against the flavour of the day and ordered a 34 over the 19. Ultimately the combo of the suppressor sights, threaded barrel and my comfort with a 5" Colt government made me lean towards the Gen4 34. Thanks for the input everyone!

I would also avoid the 19 only because this is Canada and I don't like these Pinocchio barrels that makes the 19 legal here.

Out of curiosity, why is standard minor a disadvantage?

In standard and open there are two scoring methods. Minor and major. All depends on power factor. If you hit all alphas it doesn't matter. You get 5 points whether you're shooting minor or major. However charlies and deltas are what separates minor and major. Major scores more than minor on the same charlie or delta hit.

I have a G17 (gen4), a G21 (gen 3) and a G22 (gen 3)

I like shooting .45 acp, and I really like the G21 but it is a big gun. Physically speaking, its a really big gun. A friend at the range put a brand new G41 (gen 4) in my hand and wow is all I can say. the slide is about the same width as the G17 and the gun was just better in all aspects. I will be buying a G41 in the foreseeable future...great gun.

I'm guessing that means that major and minor are classed together?
