Dad003 does the vinci hit your middle finger when you shoot? I have been looking at the sbe2 because I would like to be able to shoot 3 and a half in it but idk if I really need it. I am definately leaning towards the benelli lineup or the versamax waterfowl pro. Also it seems easier to find an sbe2 in camo for under 2000 than it is to find an m2 I camo. Also I like the idea behind the simplicity of the vinci but I have read it will smash your finger behind the trigger guard, a problem they fixed with the super vinci.

I had a Vinci a while back and even with turkey loads if you shoulder it properly and it fits you right you shouldn't hit your finger. However I would go with the Super Vinci for the sole fact that if you happen to lose or drop your shells, regardless of what your buddies are shooting you can use the same shells. If you have 3.5" you are not limited even if you don't need it. Also it will eliminate your finger issue

SBE3 is the king of Waterfowl and goose hunting, my advise is to do it once and then enjoy, SBE2 should be on sale at your local shop soon. The changes to the SBE3 are real improvements and not gimmicks.....
It been a long time I haven't shot it but I do not remember having that problem. It depends maybe of how you shoulder it or hand size
I'm having a very hard time deciding still. Still looking at the versamax duck blind, browning a5, super black eagle 2, and super vinci. I've heard the A5 can pattern extremely well. I also wanted the super black eagle 3 but it's just sooooo much money lol.

Doesn't sound like you're any closer than the start of the thread lol.
Any shotgun can and will pattern well with the loads it likes, some loads will pattern better than others.
Maybe narrow it down to either a gas gun or an inertia gun. That should narrow the choices a bit then you can handle the narrowed down selection.
it mainly the balance of the gun that change , it like 3inch shell vs 3 1/2 ,you got just a little more range not much , some people will say that a good ole 2 3/4 is just enough that they never needed 3 1/2 shell , at the end of the road it mostly you , how good do you shoot ?
Gaz guns are generally harder to clean due to more moving parts , inertia well there only the bolt to clean

me i always like to see how each one feels in my hands and positioning if it feel right it usually is.. look up reviews and cant beat trying out different stuff..
Barrel length is kind of a personal choice thing as a general rule a longer barrel may make longer passing shots on waterfowl a bit easier. It does this by moving the balance point further forward and helpng to settle down and smooth your swing.
To me I can't really tell the difference between my 26 and 28" barrelled guns for general waterfowling. I have an Auto 5 Magnum 12 with a 32" invector plus barrel and while it is great for pass shooting I find the balance off putting when shooting from a layout blind and would love a 26" barrel for it in those situations.
As far as barrel length extending range or increasing velocities, no. The only range increase may be the length of the barrel closer to your target as said by another poster. Most factory shotgun shells have achieved all their velocity potentional by 20-22" if the studies are to be believed and many by 18".

I haven't had a chance to get out and handle alot of different options yet. But the versamax fit me almost perfectly when I tried it. Only thing is I want an inertia gun because I don't clean my guns every single time I use them. I'm planning a trip to ellwood Epps with a friend and we are going g to hit cabellas o the way as well, so I'll get to handle the vast majority of options out there. Once I do pick and buy one I will for sure be posting it here and a range review as soon as I can. But that will most likely be in another month or two.
You don\t need to clean a gas gun after every outing. I usually clean my SX-3 after 1000 rounds or so, or after a week long waterfowl hunt. A friend ran his Maxus to over 2000 rounds without cleaning, and it still functioned flawlessly.

I had well over 2500 rounds through a Browning Silver before it received it's first cleaning and I did the same with a Maxus I owned putting 1500 rounds down the pipe on the skeet field breaking it in before waterfowl season. Inertia guns need cleaning as often as gas guns. They are not exempt from residual blowback in the receiver from functioning a fired round(s). I have seen on numerous occasions my buddies SBE2 jam and foul up. They all need to be kept reasonably cleaned and lubricated to function reliably.

I was actually thinking about another friend with a Maxus, but now that you mention it, Rob ran even more rounds through his, and I don't recall if he ever did clean it.
