So I got in a Boyds stock for a Savage Axis. Everything was going decently until I tried to install it on the rifle. I found out the front action screw is too short. Does anyone know the proper length of screw I will need?

It should just be drop in. All I had to do was put it in with existing action screws and tighten accordingly.

Some of the Axis rifles we did at work were just drop in.

My own personal stock, the front screw was about a half inch too short.

Boyds states that this may be an issue with some of the Savage Axis rifles.

I had the same issue when installing Boyd's stock on an axis.
I just ordered a set from Boyd's, they sell the proper length bolts for their stocks.

Which ones? They don't list screws for an Axis. Closest they list is the 10/110?

Mine just dropped in on my axis .223 with no problems.

Then ordered a stock for a Remington Mohawk 600 and spent about two hours doing dremel work to get it to fit..

I called to complain and they said they were retooling the factory and were having some issues...yeah right.

Never order a Lever action stock from Boyds. After 15 stocks that didn't fit they still won't admit there is a problem

Sorry, it was years ago. I'm not sure.

Ok so I found a Savage front action screw from a 110/10 will work but it is way too long. You'll need grind it down to fit.

I am about to order a Boyd's stock for my Axis, I hope the screws work. What a pain in the a$$ to import a stock and not have it work without sourcing additional parts.
